Job summary

Novolex, a leading packaging manufacturer, seeks an EHS Manager at our Conyers, GA facility to lead environmental, health, and safety strategy in alignment with corporate policies. This role supports production, regulatory compliance, and safety training, reporting to the Plant Manager and collaborating with Corporate EHS.

The position requires a BA/BS in safety or related field, plus 3+ years in manufacturing, OSHA/EPA knowledge, and RSO certification or ability to certify within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Must have certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or ability to certify within six months.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
• Lead the implementation and execution of the EHS Pillar for Production System (PEPs).
• Oversees plant safety portion of all regulatory audits both internal and 3rd party.
• Implement Health and Safety Management Technical Standards.
• Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.
• Oversee reporting and investigations of any potential injury, accident, or health and safety related issues.
• Conduct water sampling and outfall inspections to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Provide tactical leadership through proactively identifying areas of improvement, development of solutions and then implementing to bring change.
• Promote our Zero Harm culture
• Oversee and conduct necessary environmental, health and safety training to support and enhance the organization’s safety culture.
• Develop and deploy policies, procedures, programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the company system.
• Provide communication and training to plant management, establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance.
• Work with the Corporate EHS departments and provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects.
• Have a relentless pursuit for injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction.
• Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired EH&S performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives.
• Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve EH&S performance.
• Bring experience with innovative EH&S compliance and risk reduction techniques via employee engagement, behavior-based safety programs, risk assessments, and understanding of implementing, managing, and sustaining EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

The EHS Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager at the facility and be responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications):

Education:

• BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field or 3+ year in a related field
• Must have certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or have the ability to certify within six months.

Experience

• 3+ years of progressive and related professional health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Environmental experience is preferred.

• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
• Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
