Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking an HR Manager at its National Support Center to counsel and support People Leaders and partners on HR fundamentals and policies.

You will drive HR initiatives, provide responsive internal partner support, and lead efforts to build a compliant, ethical workplace while acting as the HR manager of record for specific client groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business or Human Resources.
• Minimum five years’ work experience in human resources.
• Required to travel <10% of the time (as needed).

• Drive the partner experience by coaching leaders to hire, inspire, develop and retain talent.
• Partner with HRBPs and stakeholders; collaborate with Comp, TA, Workforce Planning and Learning & Development.

• Coach managers to keep team priorities aligned with strategy and customer success.
• Engage with partners to understand people and create great working experiences.
• Drive partner development by coaching managers to create meaningful development plans.
• Influence hiring to bring in top talent with right experience and mindset.
• Assist with HR processes like Performance Development, Compensation Planning, New Partner Orientation and New Manager Assimilations.

As an HR Manager at Petco’s National Support Center, you will work alongside other HR leaders to support the success and growth of our partners (known as employees in other workplaces). In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our People Leaders and partners to provide counsel, coaching and support on HR fundamentals and partner-related questions. You will execute our key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal partner support, and drive HR functional excellence and process improvement. You will also act as the HR manager of record for specific client groups.

Petco’s HR Managers own the partner experience by coaching leaders to hire, inspire, develop, and retain the talented partners that create customer success. HRMs work within a collaborative eco-system of onsite HR peers ranging from HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Compensation, Benefits, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition professionals. We work together at Petco to constantly improve our workplace and drive a culture that is inclusive and open to new and better ways of doing things. Essential Job Functions:

• Engage with partners regularly to become an expert of our people and the way they work in order to create best-in‑class working experiences.
• Drive partner development by coaching managers to create meaningful, personalized development plans.
• Influence hiring to ensure we continue to hire the best partners with the right experience and mindset.
• Assist with HR functional & organizational development processes like Performance Development, Compensation Planning, New Partner Orientation and New Manager Assimilations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business or Human Resources.
• Minimum five years’ work experience in human resources.
• Required to travel <10% of the time (as needed).

Desired Characteristics:

• Master’s degree in Human Resources.
• Expertise in a specialty area such as staffing, compensation, organizational change, etc.
• Sound knowledge of local labor laws and government requirements.
