Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Manager, HSSE Operations & Project Execution to lead safety, health, and environmental support for an assigned region. The role manages a team, implements HSSE programs, and ensures regulatory compliance across development, construction, and operating assets.

The candidate will drive KPIs, investigate incidents, and provide daily to monthly non-conformance reporting. Strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and willingness to travel domestically are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's in relevant field preferred; 8+ years experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5 years HSSE experience in operations, maintenance and/or construction of power generation facilities (Wind/Solar/Battery).
  • Experience managing HSSE professionals and knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and safety platforms; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HSSE team to promote health and safety of employees, contractors, and site personnel.
  • Drive continuous HSSE improvement across operations, project execution, and engineering.
  • Travel to facilities and projects within the assigned region as needed.
  • Review investigations, prepare reports, and track CAPA through closure.
  • Engage cross-functional teams to align on safety goals and performance metrics.
  • Support regulatory compliance and HSSE program roll-out across sites.

The Manager, HSSE Operations & Project Execution leads health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) support for an assigned region, covering projects in development, active construction sites, and operating assets. It manages a team of direct reports, rolls out HSSE management systems, processes, and programs, and keeps the company compliant with environmental and regulatory requirements. Working daily with Operations management and Project Execution teams, the role drives departmental KPIs, implements best practices and lessons learned, and guides the team through investigations and root cause analysis. The role works independently to meet HSSE goals, is responsible for the safety of the team and business partners, and ensures direct reports produce daily, weekly, and monthly activity and non-conformance reports.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manages team to promote and ensure the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and subcontractors when working on RWECE facilities and projects
  • Drives continuous improvement in HSSE within all operations, project execution, and functional departments of the company
  • Frequent travel to facilities and projects within assigned region
  • Reviews to ensure quality investigations, prepares & submits reports and updates to the KPA Flex system
  • Partners with Operations, Project Execution, and Engineering on the development of CAPA for incidents and events through closure
  • Maintains, monitors, and reports HSSE performance metrics, statistics, records, and injury reports (OSHA 300) in a timely manner, using automated record-keeping systems for assigned region
  • Performs and documents Wind/Solar/Battery Operations, Project execution audits, inspections, and technical assessments/observations
  • Actively participates in Operations, Project Execution, Project Development, and Engineering meetings
  • Responds promptly to corporate HSSE requirements
Job Requirements and Experiences
  • An Associate's degree or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Construction Safety, and/or Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
  • Professional certifications preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in lieu of degree is acceptable; other factors will be taken into consideration
  • A minimum of 5 years of HSSE experience applicable to operations, maintenance and/or construction of power generation and related facilities (Wind/Solar/Battery)
  • Experience managing HSSE professionals required
  • Working knowledge of federal OSHA and EPA, state OSHA/EPA and labor standards for General and Construction industries, as well as the general principles of Industrial Safety and Industrial Hygiene
  • Specific knowledge of local and state safety and environmental regulations desirable
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, project implementation, safety platforms
  • Effectively engages peers from all levels of the organization to achieve a common vision, goals, and objectives for a safe working environment

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically as needed to effectively perform the job
  • Languages: English mandatory, additional languages an advantage
Work Environment
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; primarily field environment; up to and possibly more than 50% travel; may be exposed to hazardous conditions (Working at Height 300+ft., Confined Space, Bloodborne Pathogens); supports multiple office and field work sites
  • If required to climb, will be Wind Turbine Climb certified with medical evaluation to obtain clearance to work at height in extreme hot and cold conditions
  • If required to climb, must pass required Fit for Duty requirements
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and full range of movement in order to work in Confined Spaces
  • If required to climb, must maintain appropriate body weight with PPE and tools to not exceed OSHA limit of 310 pounds and posted weight limits on ladders
  • Will be offered a Hepatitis B vaccination for potential occupational exposure to Bloodborne pathogens while providing First Aid/ CPR; will be required to maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • In-Field Expectations: HSSE workers are expected to spend approximately two weeks per month on-site, focusing on safety observations, coaching, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and direct engagement with site teams and leadership

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $130,000-$140,000.The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
