Description

Volunteers are at the heart of all FIFA events, impacting all that experience the tournaments, and are a critical component to the successful delivery of FWC2026. The FIFA World Cup 2026 Volunteer Program offers a unique opportunity to connect with individuals and communities across North America. Volunteers will serve as the "face" of the event, enhancing the profile and reputation of FIFA, the tournament, and the host cities on a global stage. The program aims to support strategic objectives, foster social change, strengthen social connections, increase civic pride, and promote volunteering across the host cities.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Volunteer Operations, the Host City Volunteer Manager for Kansas City will be a key member of the FIFA26 Volunteer Management team. The role involves collaboration with the Zurich Volunteer Management team and other stakeholders to deliver volunteer programs at the city level, focusing on engagement, recruitment, training, scheduling, and tournament delivery, ensuring a positive volunteer experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider FWC26 Volunteer Team to ensure a coordinated approach and program effectiveness.

THE POSITION

The main responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing the local volunteer program, including engagement, recruitment, training, and operational plans aligned with the broader event strategy.
  • Supporting marketing and communication efforts to promote the volunteer program and align with grassroots initiatives.
  • Coordinating with local stakeholders and supporting the implementation of the volunteer program.
  • Collaborating with FIFA departments and external partners to meet city-specific volunteer needs.
  • Supporting centralized projects impacting all volunteers across the tournament footprint.
  • Managing the operation of the city volunteer center, including recruitment, training, uniforms, and accreditation.
  • Developing and delivering volunteer training programs.
  • Becoming proficient in FIFA's Volunteer Management Platform to support volunteer coordination.
  • Planning and executing volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives.
  • Managing volunteer-related issues and conflicts, fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Analyzing data and feedback to identify improvement areas and implement enhancements.
  • Overseeing volunteer workforce and experience across venues, including support for rehearsals, test events, and additional activities.
  • Coordinating additional volunteer support with external organizations as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies, and preparing reports for management.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Experience in sports, events, volunteer management, marketing, community engagement, or project management
  • Ability to build relationships with authorities, stakeholders, and volunteer groups
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Team player, adaptable, and able to work under pressure
  • Positive attitude, patience, and persistence
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office and planning tools
