Hospital Contracting Manager - VA/DC/MD market - Healthcare

Position Overview

This role serves as an integral member of the Provider Contracting Team, reporting to the Provider Contracting Senior Manager. It involves developing strategic direction and managing day-to-day contracting and network activities within a specified territory.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage complex contracting negotiations for fee-for-service and value-based reimbursements with hospitals and providers.
  2. Build and nurture provider partnerships and explore value-based business opportunities.
  3. Communicate effectively with matrix partners across departments such as Claims, Medical Management, Legal, and others.
  4. Develop network strategies, identify opportunities for value orientation, and support alternative network initiatives.
  5. Work towards cost targets while maintaining an adequate network to ensure competitive positioning.
  6. Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving total medical costs and quality of care.
  7. Assess clinical informatics and provide consultative support for cost initiatives with provider partners.
  8. Analyze financial impacts of provider contracts and develop agreements aligning with operational standards.
  9. Resolve complex provider service issues and manage key provider relationships.
  10. Maintain accurate contract data and interface with teams for network implementation.
  11. Mentor less experienced team members as needed.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Healthcare, Business, or related field; MBA or MHA preferred. Significant industry experience may substitute.
  2. 5+ years of hospital contracting and negotiation experience.
  3. Experience with complex reimbursement models and building provider relationships.
  4. Knowledge of hospital, managed care, and provider business models.
  5. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Additional Information

Location: Richmond, McLean VA, Washington DC, or Baltimore MD area. Salary range: $91,200 - $152,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility. Benefits include health coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and more.

For remote work, a broadband internet connection of at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required.
