About the Role
The Manager, Health & Safety will support and continuously improve the execution of the sites' safety management system to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policy and promote a culture of safety. This role supports safety initiatives across various departments and drives continuous improvement in workplace safety practices. The Manager will work closely with facility leadership and employees to foster a proactive safety environment that minimizes risks and enhances the health and safety of all personnel.
Position Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic leadership in the management of the facility’s safety and health programs. Motivate and mentor safety champions and specialists to ensure adherence to safety policies and regulations.
- Program Management: Oversee and execute comprehensive safety training programs and initiatives that promote a culture of safety, ensuring best practices are integrated into daily operations.
- Safety Audits & Compliance: Lead safety audits/assessments, inspections, and compliance checks across the facility. Analyze findings and implement corrective actions to address any deficiencies or safety concerns.
- Training & Development: Deliver safety training for all employees, including new hires and contractors. Ensure training materials are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Incident Investigation: Manage the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents. Identify root causes and implement preventative measures to mitigate future risks.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with contractors and external vendors to ensure compliance with safety standards and expectations. Monitor contractor safety performance and provide guidance as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit required documentation for OSHA and other regulatory bodies, including the annual report for the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) where applicable. Maintain knowledge of evolving safety regulations and industry/Reworld best practices, and leverage these to make site improvements.
- Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of safety procedures, incidents, safety metrics and other required documents. Prepare reports for management to communicate safety performance and compliance status.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Champion a culture of safety by providing subject–matter expertise to drive effectiveness of the local Safety Committee that promotes employee engagement and accountability in safety practices. Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns and foster a collaborative environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide recommendations for improving safety processes and procedures. Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing overall workplace safety and health.
- Accomplish additional requirements per the directive of the region H&S Director.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field is strongly preferred, however candidates with appropriate certifications, equivalent experience and demonstratable histories of supporting culture change may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of safety management experience in a heavy industrial environment, with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Skills: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of safety management systems (such as VPP) and agility in safety management software. Familiarity with data analysis tools is required.
- Availability: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to support facility operations and safety initiatives as well as cover outage activities as needed. This position supports the Milwaukee, Fox Valley and Cedar Rapids locations. Ability to travel occasionally as needed (up to 20%).
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb ladders.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
- Must qualify to wear a full‑face respirator and work in various weather conditions both inside and outside facilities.

Pay Transparency
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $99,000.00 - $141,500.00 USD per annum.
