Job Summary

Murphy’s vision is to build a Global HSE organization that is a strategic partner to the business and consistently delivers quality insights to enable safe and efficient operations. The Manager of Global HSE Programs will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety, health, and environmental programs across the company's global operations. This role ensures compliance with relevant regulations, mitigates risks, and promotes a strong safety culture.

The position will interface with management, staff and contractors on matters of global compliance, policies, and standards and will serve as an advisor to the Operations, Drilling, Completions, Land and other departments. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy individual demonstrating a proactive and collaborative approach to developing solutions and implementing initiatives that enhance health and safety performance across the global business while actively engaging in industry best practices and industry groups, liaising with government agencies. They will also possess strong organizational skills, adept at managing multiple ongoing projects and prioritizing workloads. They should be skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external clients. They will lead and mentor teams to build proficiencies and should be proficient in presenting to various levels of leadership, including executives.

This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE programs, including risk assessments, contractor manangement, and safety training.
  • Stay informed and ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards, updating internal standards as applicable.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate HSE risks across the organization's global operations.
  • Develop and provide data analytics to support the business in achieving top quartile safety performance
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support operational competency program to ensure global consistency and alignment
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to document HSE performance and compliance.
  • Identify and implement improvements to HSE programs and practices.
  • Lead and support the HSE team and Operations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with management and employees.
  • Manage the HSE budget and ensure financial performance targets are met.

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in HSE program development, implementation and management in the oil and gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English and other relevant languages for global operations.
  • The role may involve significant travel to domestic and international locations
  • A strong commitment to safety and environmental protection is essential.

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
