Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager 2 for its Elkton, MD facility to lead casting and mixing operations on-site, ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence, and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires 12 years in manufacturing or a Bachelor's with 8 years (or a Master's with 6 years). Experience with SAP and Solumina is preferred; relocation assistance and 10% travel are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or related field with 8 years of experience in Manufacturing/Production
• Master's degree in Manufacturing or related field with 6 years of experience in Manufacturing/Production
• 12 years of experience in Manufacturing/Production environment or equivalent with alternative degrees
• Excellent verbal communication with Technician staff and management
• Support customer proposals with basis of estimates (BOE) for labor and schedules
• Adhere to Northrop Grumman policies for manufacturing environments
• Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance (US citizenship required)

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman is in need of a Manufacturing Operations Manager 2 to join our Manufacturing and Infrastructure Team at its Elkton, Maryland facility.

Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. What You’ll get to do:

• Direct and coordinate energetic mixing and casting operations while maintaining a strict adherence to safety and quality objectives.
• Direct and coordinate activities to plan, manage, and control production schedules, in conjunction with Material Requirements Planning, to meet production/delivery requirements
• Oversee the status of work in process, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are available, as needed
• Maintains ownership of key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive process control, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency.
• Provides specific direction and training to employees to ensure operational success.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have 12 year of experience working in a Manufacturing and/or Production Environment.
• Will also consider those with a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience working in a Manufacturing and/or Production Environment and those with a Master's degree with 6 years of experience working in a Manufacturing and/or Production Environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with Technician staff, Manufacturing support personnel, Functional management, Program management and related groups
• Support customer proposal by providing basis of estimates (BOE) for labor and schedule durations
• Ensuring compliance to all Northrop Grumman policies and procedures as applicable for manufacturing environments
• Ensure that equipment and machinery are maintained in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules for each assigned area
• The ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance is required, US citizenship is a pre-requisite

• Experience presenting to executive staff / leadership
• Experience with Lean/5S in manufacturing environments.

Primary Level Salary Range: $115,600.00 - $173,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
