Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 in McClellan, CA to lead production planning, scheduling, and materials services. You will coordinate with Global Supply Chain, Engineering, and Business Management to optimize productivity, cost, and quality, while guiding a high-performing team.

The role requires US citizenship, a Top-Secret clearance, and 8+ years in manufacturing/engineering leadership, with SAP/Solumina experience and AS9100D familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; 8 years experience, or Master’s 6 years, PhD 4+ years.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct leadership experience in manufacturing/production, operations, or engineering.
  • Experience with SAP and Solumina; AS9100D requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct production activities to plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oversee status of work in process, material availability, and potential production problems.
  • Allocate staffing to maximize efficiency, achieve schedule, and target productive yields.
  • Lead fabrication, assembly, production control, and material services teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams across multiple organization including Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering and Business Management.
  • Lead and optimize manufacturing operations by developing and implementing strategies that improve productivity, reduce cost, and ensure quality.
  • Maintain site-specific manufacturing SOPs, work instructions, forms and procedures within site MES.
  • Develop manufacturing proposals & basis-of-estimates (BOEs) for potential contracts.
  • Coach and mentor a high-performing manufacturing team.
  • Direct development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives using Lean methods.
  • Provide guidance to Design Engineering during drawing reviews regarding manufacturability and constraints.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, or opportunities relating to cost and schedule performance.
  • Establish Procedures for calibration and maintenance of standard tools and lab management ensuring ESD/FOD compliance.
  • Collaborate with diverse groups and communicate effectively as the technical manufacturing representative.
