Job summary

Exponent, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manager in Vehicle Engineering to lead fuel system design efforts in Farmington Hills, MI. You will guide multidisciplinary teams on a range of projects, including real-world vehicle collisions and defect claims, while mentoring staff and expanding client relationships.

The role requires 5+ years in fuel system design and a Ph.D. or M.S. in a related field, with PE/CFEI credentials preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry or research experience in fuel system design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary team experience.
  • Project management of technical projects; ability to coordinate tasks and timelines.
  • PE license and/or CFEI/CVFI credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to inspect crashed vehicles and participate in field assessments.
  • Analyze vehicle performance in severe collisions and assist with crash testing.
  • Apply fuelsystem design and automotive engineering expertise to defect claims.
  • Prepare complex technical reports for clients and internal teams.
  • Develop and nurture client relationships and contribute to business growth.
  • Coordinate project delivery, timelines, and deliverables with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote a collaborative, inclusive environment.

You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.S. degree inMechanical Engineering,Automotive Engineering,or related field

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
