Description
About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike.

We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need adjusters who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can’t wait to meet you.

About the role

As a Manager, Financial Operations at Reserv, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's future. Reserv will rely on you to build and manage a team that ensures payment accuracy and compliance, serves our internal needs, and builds trust with our customers.

You will lead a team that manages loss fund payments, including reconciliation, assisting with audits, and ensuring we have the right processes to set ourselves up for success. If you possess the vision and passion to contribute to Reserv’s long-term success, we invite you to join us.

Who you are

  • Capable of building and managing a high-performing yet lean team.
  • Skilled in analyzing, optimizing, and maintaining systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in gathering and translating financial information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and projects at once.
  • A problem solver who can troubleshoot issues and collaborate cross-functionally to find solutions.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and clients.
  • Strong communicator, able to clearly articulate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experienced in working with enterprise tools such as Microsoft 365 Suite, Tableau or Looker (SQL), and other financial reporting and communication applications.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments and adapts quickly to change.
What we need

We need you to do all the things typical of the role:

  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Serve as a mentor and coach to junior analysts, providing guidance and training.
    • Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy.
    • Lead by example in handling complex payment reconciliations and issue resolution.
  • Payment Analysis & Reconciliation:
    • Reconcile loss fund payments with claims data, financial records, and bank statements.
    • Audit payments for accuracy, compliance, and contractual adherence.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with internal teams.
    • Assist with reconciliation requests from carriers and auditors.
    • Maintain precise records for compliance and audits.
  • Process Improvement & Compliance:
    • Identify and implement best practices to enhance payment accuracy and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the claims & technology teams to improve payment processes.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations related to loss fund payments.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Create and analyze reports on payment trends, reconciliation status, and outstanding issues.
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and external vendors regarding payment-related inquiries.
    • Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation for financial reviews.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, preferably across multiple time zones / continents
  • 3+ years of experience in managing loss funds, preferably with a TPA
  • 3+ years of accounting / finance experience, preferably with AR/AP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a strategic, creative mindset for developing innovative solutions
  • Exceptional project management skills, capable of overseeing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant concepts like GAAP accounting practices, state DOI regulations related to loss funds (in America), and the UK Financial Conduct Authority
  • Advance skills in Excel and business intelligence tools, such as Looker, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience with claims management systems, particularly Snapsheet, is a plus (but not mandatory)
Benefits
  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success.
