Job summary

NuScale Power is seeking a senior leader to direct Plant Services programs in a nuclear development environment. You will oversee program managers, translate strategic priorities into actionable goals, and ensure delivery excellence across complex plant services portfolios.

The role requires deep nuclear industry knowledge, substantial leadership and PM experience, and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers while managing budgets and risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or science, or 20+ years in nuclear industry.
  • Fifteen years of full‑time nuclear reactor technology development or services delivery experience (5 in delivery).
  • Senior Reactor Operator certification or nuclear startup/BD experience.
  • Strong technical writing, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple nuclear services projects with PM principles.
  • Ability to build, coach, and mentor teams.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810; able to work on active NuScale project sites.

Job description

NOTE: THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE FOR REMOTE WORK FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING BEYOND A 30 MILE RADIUS OF A PHYSICAL NUSCALE OFFICE BUT WITHIN THE CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee Plant Services Program Managers with field deliverable scopes. This includes the planning, execution, and delivery of key plant services programs, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met.
  • Set performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and development, conduct performance reviews, and manage workload and priorities for direct reports, including the Program Manager, Plant Services.
  • Provide managerial review and approval of financial planning activities, including business cases, program budgets, and financial performance reports developed by the team; maintain budgetary accountability for the plant services program portfolio.
  • Translate senior leadership direction and strategic priorities into actionable team goals and program objectives; provide regular reporting on team performance, program health, and key metrics to the Senior Director, Plant Services.
  • Oversee the integration of customer needs and business competencies into plant services program strategies, ensuring alignment with NuScale’s growth objectives and emerging market opportunities.
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in plant services delivery across all managed programs by establishing performance standards, reviewing field metrics, and holding the team accountable to pre-established measures of success.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for program process and delivery problems; coordinate resolution of significant issues and elevate risks or challenges to the Senior Director, Plant Services as appropriate.
  • Provide oversight of field activities and program governance, ensuring that project-specific policies, procedures, and earned value management practices are properly applied and consistently followed.
  • Review and approve long-range planning inputs and fiscal expenditure recommendations developed by the Program Manager, Plant Services; participate in the development of NuScale Plant Services strategic plans.
  • Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders, including Business Development, Supply Chain, PMO, and customer representatives, to ensure program commitments are achievable and NuScale resources are appropriately allocated.
  • Ensure the team monitors regulatory and industry developments affecting plant services strategies and implements practical solutions to complex compliance and operational challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications And Abilities
  • Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, engineering technology, or science or 20+ years of technical work experience in the nuclear industry is required. MBA or advanced engineering degree desired.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of fifteen years of full‑time working experience for a nuclear reactor technology development company, five of which in its services delivery organization, is required.
    • Senior Reactor Operator certification at an operating nuclear generating facility, nuclear‑related construction and startup experience, and/or nuclear services business development and execution experience is required.
    • Strong technical writing, communication and leadership skills are required.
    • Candidates are required to have demonstrated the ability to utilize project management principles and related information technology tools across multiple nuclear services projects.
    • Required to have demonstrated the ability to manage and motivate personnel assigned to designated control account and coordinate multiple technical disciplines to provide solutions in a timely manner.
    • Required to have demonstrated high ownership, accountability, technical knowledge, and leadership experience in the planning and execution of start‑up and/or refueling projects in the nuclear industry
    • Required to have demonstrated the ability to build, coach, and mentor teams.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810. With appropriate training, able to work on an active NuScale power plant construction project site in connection with the NuScale Service delivery organization’s delivery of pre‑commercial operation services

Pay And Benefits

The target pay range for this position is $165,576 - $199,833 annually. The full pay range is $148,447 - $232,188 annually.
