Thresholds in Chicago is seeking a Manager, Facilities PMO to lead planning and execution of capital improvement, renovation, construction, and infrastructure projects across the organization.

In this strategic leadership role you will oversee the Facilities PMO, drive accountability, collaborate with leaders, staff, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while aligning with long-term capital goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of facilities/capital project management experience.
• Proven leadership of professional staff.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and budgets within a complex environment.
• Strong communication, analytical and financial management skills.
• Proficiency with project management systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Facilities PMO team to foster accountability and collaboration.
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of renovation, infrastructure, construction, and capital improvement projects.
• Establish governance, reporting, and performance metrics across project lifecycles.
• Manage risks, budgets, schedules, and vendor performance to ensure value.

As the Manager, Facilities Project Management Office (PMO), you will lead the planning and execution of capital improvement, renovation, construction, and infrastructure projects across our organization. This strategic leadership role oversees the Facilities PMO, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational priorities and long-term capital investment goals.

Working collaboratively with leadership, staff, consultants, and contractors, you will drive accountability, foster innovation, and steward resources to create environments that support high-quality services for the people and communities we serve.

Essential Duties

• Strategic Leadership
• Provides direction and leadership for the Facilities Project Management Office.
• Develops and implements project management practices that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Aligns project priorities with organizational goals, capital planning initiatives, and facility asset management strategies.
• Advises leadership on project risks, opportunities, resource allocation, and long-term facility investment planning.

Project Portfolio Management

• Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of renovation, infrastructure, construction, and capital improvement projects across the organization's real estate portfolio.
• Ensures project activities are aligned with approved budgets, schedules, quality standards, and business objectives.
• Establishes governance processes that promote transparency, accountability, and consistency throughout project lifecycles.
• Monitors portfolio performance and supports informed decision-making through meaningful reporting and analysis.

Team Development and Leadership

• Leads, coaches, and develops Project Management staff to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Builds organizational capacity by establishing clear performance expectations, providing mentorship, and supporting career development.
• Promotes effective communication and teamwork across departments and project stakeholders.
• Creates an environment that encourages innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Financial and Resource Stewardship

• Provides oversight of capital project budgets and resource allocation to maximize organizational value and financial responsibility.
• Supports long‑term capital planning and prioritization of investments.
• Ensures appropriate financial controls, forecasting practices, and expenditure monitoring are maintained throughout project delivery.
• Evaluates project performance and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency and return on investment.

Risk Management and Compliance

• Ensures facilities projects comply with applicable regulatory requirements, safety standards, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
• Identifies and mitigates project risks while maintaining focus on schedule, quality, and budget objectives.
• Promotes safe project environments and supports effective management of contractor and vendor performance.
• Serves as a key resource for resolving complex project issues and stakeholder concerns.

Stakeholder Partnership

• Facilitates collaboration among stakeholders to ensure project outcomes support operational and programmatic needs.
• Communicates project status, priorities, challenges, and opportunities to leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
• Represents the Facilities PMO as a trusted partner in organizational planning and decision-making.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field. Relevant leadership and project management experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

• Minimum of (5) five years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, construction, capital project management, or related fields.
• Demonstrated leadership experience supervising and developing professional staff.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, budgets, and stakeholders within a complex organizational environment.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning capabilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies and capital project delivery.
• Ability to influence, collaborate, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong analytical and financial management skills.
• Proficiency with project management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and data-driven reporting tools.

This position

• Requires daily travel routinely throughout the Chicagoland area to organizational facilities and project sites throughout the service area.
• Requires the ability to inspect facilities (including roofs, basements, etc.), access various building systems, and perform site assessments. This may require work outside selectively in all weather conditions.
• May occasionally require work outside normal business hours to support project activities or operational needs.
