Job summary

Space Foundation in Colorado Springs seeks a Manager of Exhibit Center Operations & Sales to lead day-to-day exhibit activities and drive sponsorships. You will nurture client relationships, close opportunities, and coordinate with the Strategic Growth team to maximize revenue during Space Symposium and year-round events.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in client-facing sales, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Manager, Exhibit Center Operations & Sales is a dynamic, outgoing professional who is customer-focused, positive, productive, and highly motivated to "get the job done." They report to the Senior Director of Exhibit Center Operations & Sales. The ideal manager has experience with the entire sales process, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and deal closing. The Manager, Exhibit Center Operations & Sales is a quick learner who has strong negotiating/customer relations skills and someone with a successful record of accomplishment who can inspire the same performance in others.


The Manger, Exhibit Center Operations & Sales works proactively to support the varying needs of the team. They help generate sales opportunities, including Sponsorship opportunities and corporate membership leads under the Strategic Partnership umbrella. They work closely with all products and services offered by the Strategic Growth team.


As an integral part of day-to-day business, the Exhibit Center Operations Manager will manage and oversee the day-to-day duties of the Exhibit Operations team.


Prior to and during the Space Symposium, the Manger, Exhibit Center Operations & Sales will interact with customers, both internal and external, to maintain current customers and recruit additional customers, while fostering lasting relationships to solidify customer retention. They will also assist the team with all aspects of trade show move-in and move-out, including exhibit hall setup, security, freight, and drayage.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with exhibit hall management, floor space sales, and exhibit placement.

  • Engages and manages the post-sales relationship with the customers by identifying and helping close opportunities that expand Space Foundation's reach within each customer, while delivering incremental business value and outstanding experience.

  • Improve customer service experience, create engaged customers, and facilitate organic growth.

  • Take ownership of customers’ issues and follow problems through to resolution.

  • Set a clear mission and deploy strategies focused on that mission.

  • Develop service procedures, policies, and standards.

  • Keep accurate records and document customer service actions and discussions.

  • Analyze statistics and compile accurate reports.

  • Improving customer service experience, creating engaged customers, and facilitating organic growth.

  • Maintain an orderly workflow according to priorities.

  • Use expertise to ensure customers’ loyalty, which can lead to business profitability.

  • Champion opportunities to consistently improve customer experience.

  • Test new strategies for driving customer value.

  • Continually review and evolve the collection of processes.

  • Meet with potential clients and develop long-lasting relationships that address their needs.

  • Identify knowledge gaps within the team and develop plans for filling them.

  • Ensure that company quotas are met by periodically checking in with the sales team to set objectives and monitor progress.

  • Supervise the Exhibit Operations team.

  • Implement new processes & procedures.

  • Train new employees.

  • Manage the Exhibitor Registration Desk during Space Symposium.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES:


  • Oversees the work of assigned personnel by setting priorities, coaching for development, and managing performance to achieve individual and team success in alignment with organizational goals.



BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This position does not have budgetary or financial oversight responsibilities.



COMPETENCIES:


  • Due to the volume of interaction with external customers, this position requires poise, tact, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when needed.

  • Must be highly organized and able to develop a strong understanding of the Space Foundation's mission and sales objectives.

  • Has the ability to be able to work independently and as a member of a team. Maintaining close communications with team members at remote locations will be key to this individual's success.

  • Effective communication skills are essential. This person must be an expert listener and experienced leader, able to anticipate customer needs, record essential information, and interpret and describe a customer's request to the appropriate team member.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail are required in all aspects of the position.

  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills.

  • Must be driven, maintain a positive approach, be passionate about sales & provide outstanding customer service.

  • Ability to learn new application quickly and proficiently.



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality /Business.

  • CEM certification.

  • Proficiency communicating, reading, and writing in the English language.

  • Demonstrated success applying management principles and leadership techniques to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams.

  • Experience in providing customer service support.

  • Must have a working knowledge of customer service software, databases, and tools. Direct experience with any of the following is helpful: HubSpot, Capture Technologies IMS System, and MapYour Show.

  • Should have awareness of the industry’s latest technology trends and applications.

  • 5 plus years' experience in a client-facing role.

  • Strong sales skills and organization are essential to this position.

  • Demonstrated experience and success working independently on special projects and assignments while meeting deadlines.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position involves extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation and frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment. Occasional movement, including walking, lifting, or carrying items up to 15 pounds, may be required. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role is primarily based in an office environment, with access to standard equipment and furnishings. JOB STATUS:


  • FLSA Classification: This position is exempt according to guidelines of the Fair Labor Standards Act and, as such, an individual in this position is not eligible to receive overtime pay.

  • Full- or Part-Time: This position is full-time in nature. An individual in this position will work a schedule consisting of 40+ hours per week.

  • Work Location: This position’s primary work site is at Space Foundation headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. This position is based at Space Foundation headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. Under our current hybrid work policy, this role is eligible for up to two work-from-home days per week, with the remaining days worked on-site.

  • Regular Schedule: The position's usual business days are Monday through Friday, and its usual business hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. in the time zone in which it is located.
