To achieve that mission, Virta is looking for an experienced leader to help build and manage this new team of RN CDEs as a player-coach.

Key requirements include:

• Holding an active RN license in a Nursing Compact state.
• Demonstrating experience as a manager who has helped direct reports improve skills, develop their careers, hire quality staff, counsel personnel, and build team cohesion.

Responsibilities:

• Build and manage a team of 10-15 part-time nurses, overseeing QA/QI, supervision, scheduling, and licensure management.
• Act as a player-coach: spend approximately half your time seeing patients and half managing the team.
• Conduct 20-minute clinical intake visits via video or phone, verifying clinical history, medications, and flagging concerning cases for provider review.
• Educate patients about Virta’s treatment, helping them prepare for their nutritional and behavioral journey.
• Manage daily schedule hygiene, monitor provider support requests, update workflows, provide feedback, lead weekly team meetings, and collaborate on quality initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience working with diabetes patients in a clinical setting.
• Interest and knowledge of diabetes care, prevention, and low carbohydrate nutrition.
• Over 3 years of experience managing nurses, preferably in an ambulatory, virtual, or clinical diabetes setting.
• Active RN license with at least one year of clinical experience with type 2 diabetes patients; CDE licensure preferred.
• RN license in a Nursing Licensure Compact state and residency in one.
• Telehealth or startup experience preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for licensure in all U.S. states.
• Interest in working within a growth-stage, tech-enabled healthcare organization.
• Occasional travel (2-3 times/year) to team and company events.
• Excellent bedside manner, trustworthiness, and strong communication skills.
• Team-oriented mindset, contributing to the betterment of the clinical team.
