Toyota Financial Services is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to drive architecture, delivery, and technical excellence across dealer, origination, pricing, and credit domains. This role blends hands-on leadership with people management to guide major capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, shape roadmaps, establish engineering standards, and champion cloud-native, API-first, event-driven architectures while partnering with product and leadership to align with business

Qualificações

• 10+ years in software engineering with distributed systems leadership.

Who We’re Looking For

Toyota Financial Services is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to play a critical role in driving architecture, delivery, and technical excellence across key digital platforms. This role blends deep hands-on technical leadership with team leadership, acting as a technical authority and delivery owner for major capabilities across Dealer, Origination, Pricing, and Credit domains.

The ideal candidate is a strong systems thinker who can lead complex initiatives end-to-end, mentor engineers, influence standards across teams, and partner with leadership to shape roadmap and execution strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing

• As a Manager, you will: Lead, grow, and retain a team of full-stack and backend engineers — hiring top talent, running performance reviews, coaching, and creating clear paths for career development.
• Lead system design and architecture for complex, distributed platforms supporting PreQual, Credit Pull, Pricing, and Funding workflows.
• Own end-to-end delivery of major initiatives—from design through production readiness and operational support.
• Drive the design and implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant, and resilient microservices using modern cloud-native patterns.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leadership to align technical execution with business priorities and roadmap.
• Establish and influence engineering standards across APIs, observability, resiliency, security, and cloud practices.
• Lead API-first and event-driven integrations across dealer portals, origination systems, pricing engines and downstream consumers.
• Ensure strong production readiness, including monitoring, alerting, tracing, and operational discipline.
• Coach and mentor engineers on system design, code quality, and operational excellence, building strong technical depth across the team.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team scaling, and manage engineers where applicable.
• Champion the use of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve developer productivity and delivery quality.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership on large-scale, distributed systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architectures.
• Strong experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS, including ECS, Fargate, IAM, and VPC.
• Proven ability to design and operate event-driven architectures for pricing, incentives, and credit workflows.
• Experience integrating credit bureaus, fraud services, and third-party data providers.
• Solid understanding of observability and operational excellence, using tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and explain complex technical decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineers, manage delivery, and raise technical standards across teams.

UI / Experience Skills

• Designs APIs and service contracts with frontend performance and usability in mind.
• Collaborates closely with UI teams to support PreQual, pricing, and credit flows.
• Reviews frontend integration patterns to ensure efficient data exchange and reduced coupling.

Data Skills (Practical, Not Heavy Analytics)

• Understands data modeling and data flow across services and events.
• Designs systems that produce clean,reliable data for downstream analytics and reporting.
• Familiar with event payload design, schema evolution, and backward compatibility.

Added Bonus If You Have

• AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) certification.
• Experience working within automotive or financial services ecosystems, especially dealer-centric platforms.
• Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock or AI/ML integrations for automation, decisioning, or developer productivity.
• Prior experience balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities.
• Background in driving platform modernization or large-scale system transformations.
