Job summary

Akamai's Cloud Technology Group Compute division, formerly Linode, now Akamai Cloud, is a collaborative, inclusive team. We design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications that run on our IaaS platform, helping customers scale and simplify cloud computing.

As a Manager Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers building the Kubernetes-based platform, shape the roadmap with product leadership, drive reliability and security, mentor staff, and manage Agile delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development and leadership experience.
• Strong track record leading cloud-native platform engineering with Kubernetes.
• Proven experience building and operating production services at scale.
• Solid foundation in containerization, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.
• Expertise with CI/CD tools to enforce good software practices.

Partner with the best

With your expertise in Kubernetes and Cloud‑Native technologies, you will help design, build, and scale the Kubernetes Product Platform. This opinionated internal Kubernetes platform meets Akamai's change safety, security, and compliance expectations while giving developers the experience they want. This platform will help bring new products and services to market faster by simplifying performance, reliability, security, and operational needs.

As a Manager Engineering, you will be responsible for:

• Leading and growing a team of high‑performing engineers building the cloud‑native platform on Kubernetes.

• Partnering with product management and leadership to shape the strategic roadmap and execute on key platform milestones.

• Driving technical excellence, reliability, and security practices across the platform engineering organization.

• Mentoring engineers, supporting career growth, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative team culture.

• Managing delivery timelines, resources, and engineering operations in an Agile environment.

• Fostering an environment that encourages innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 8 years of experience in software development along with experience in engineering leadership or management role

• Demonstrate leadership in Cloud Native Platform Engineering, driving organizational alignment and operational efficiency

• Have track record of managing teams that build and operate highly available production services using Kubernetes and cloud‑native technologies

• Have technical foundation in containerization, microservices architecture, and cloud infrastructure

• Have experience hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent

• Possess expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $151,800 - $273,200/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
