Aspirus MedEvac in Iron River, MI, is seeking a Manager – Emergency Medical Services to join our team!

The EMS Manager is responsible for understanding and supporting the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Aspirus Wausau Hospital and MedEvac services. This role involves collaborating with team members to ensure safe, effective, and efficient transportation across the region, managing daily operations, and providing leadership for the MedEvac transportation program. The manager oversees recruitment, retention, performance reviews, professional development, budgeting, and quality outcomes, ensuring safe and comprehensive care for critically ill and injured patients of all ages.

Care is provided in pre-hospital settings and during inter-facility transports, requiring knowledge of transport paramedic practices, emergency procedures, and diagnostics. The EMS Manager also oversees orientation and training for staff, students, and the public regarding EMS care.

HOURS: Full-Time or 1.0 FTE, day shift, with potential meetings on other shifts.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of emergency patient care standards, usually acquired through an accredited Paramedic or RN program.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or to be completed within an agreed timeframe.
  • Preferred fields include Health Care Administration with an emphasis on Emergency Management or Nursing.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a busy 911/pre-hospital setting, flight, or transport.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Active Wisconsin/Michigan Paramedic certification and/or RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License in the state of residency.
  • Membership in professional organizations is beneficial.
  • Effective human relations skills for interacting with personnel and external customers.
  • Basic computer skills (email, Excel, Word, etc.).

Aspirus MedEvac provides 24-hour emergency air and ground transport for critically ill and injured individuals across North Central Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. We are committed to high standards of care and safety. Our ground units operate from bases in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, staffed with Critical Care Paramedics, RNs, and EMTs. Air transports are staffed with a pilot, Flight Nurse, and Flight Paramedic, capable of transporting one patient.
