Job description

The Program Manager for Participant Engagement at The Boeing Academy for STEM Learning (BASL) the education division of The Museum of Flight supports the mission of the Museum by leading educationfocused participant engagement and integrating learnings and researchbased educational bestpractices into our programs. The Participant Engagement Manager is responsible for the management and success of programs for schoolage learners with the aim of fostering their relationship with the Museum well as explore aerospacerelated education and career pathways. Aligning with our vision and mission this role leads the Museums Connections programs and education volunteers (i.e. mentors) in support of education programs and enduring relationships with the Museum. This person will lead for crossdepartmental education program participants program alumni and education volunteerrelated data analytics. Balancing the creative process of programmatic design researchbased bestpractices for working with diverse learners and the organized process of managing this position is responsible for building and delivering programs that are marketable feasible and scalable for a diversity of learners.

This person is a key member of the Museums Boeing Academy for Museum Learning (BASL) leadership team and will help ensure BASL mission and values are represented in programming. Critical to their success this role leads their work with attention and focus on building diverse and inclusive experiences.

  • Oversee and manage the development implementation and evaluation of programs for schoolage learners and their caregivers educators and Museum volunteers (i.e. mentors).
  • Lead the collaboration with internal stakeholders (staff and volunteers) and external partners agencies and organizations in designing refining and evaluating education programs that are aligned to Museum strategic initiatives and BASL goals.
  • Supervisory responsibilities; collaborate with department leadership to manage program team of staff mentors and / or volunteers including recruiting hiring training coaching feedback developing work plans and staff evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively with Museumwide community engagement initiatives to engage and build relationships with the surrounding community in effort to recruit program participants.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department to develop relevant promotional campaigns targeting diverse audiences as well as develop strategies for continued communication with Connections members and BASL program alumni.
  • Lead BASL department in establishing and utilizing participant related data systems including participant alumni and volunteer tracking; program evaluation; Community engagement (e.g. CRM systems.
  • Collect review and assess data including program evaluations to understand and implement changes to assigned program area(s) to refine objectives and better support audiences; draft engagement reports and summaries as needed.
  • Establish and guide the onboarding and participation of educationfocused volunteers / mentors.
  • Create manage and track related programming budget and financial goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Education Business Human Resources or related field preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five (5) years of strong program development experience preferably in education and / or museum settings including management and budgetary responsibilities.
  • Three (3) years of experience successfully leading large and small teams in the planning and implementation of programs and events.
  • Previous instructional experience in nontraditional formal and / or informal educational settings STEM fields preferred.

Knowledge

  • Practical knowledge of education standards and practices.
  • Proven knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning which actively engages students families and educators.
  • Proven knowledge of best practices in engaging with STEM and / or related industry professionals.
  • Practical knowledge of aviation and aerospace is highly preferred.

Skill

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment with a wide variety of individuals and departments.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills : effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating programs to schoolage learners families and educators.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment with a wide variety of individuals (e.g. staff volunteers and community partners) and Museum departments.
  • Customerservice mindset with the ability to work among a diverse population including all levels of staff learners families educators vendors and volunteers.
  • Ability to establish solid working relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to lead and manage small and largediverse groups through successful planning and implementation of programs and events.
  • Demonstrates having a creative entrepreneurial and missiondriven aptitude.

License & Certification

  • Must possess a current drivers license and acceptable driving record.

  • This position works primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility for evening and variable hours based on Museum need.
  • Onsite attendance is essential to perform some of the duties of this position.

PaidTime Off

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $30.00 to $41.00 depending on experience.

Should you receive an offer please expect that it can fall anywhere within this range. A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following : scope of role within the organization years of relevant experience specific skills and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
