Job summary

CLA, a top 10 national professional services firm, seeks a Manager/Director - Transaction Tax in California to lead client engagements and develop relationships with new business and existing clients. You will supervise due diligence, tax planning, and reporting, coordinating with SALT, International Tax Solutions, and Federal Tax teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, at least 5 years in federal/state/international tax, and CPA licensure; JD or EA may be accepted

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in federal, state, and/or international tax.
• CPA license certification required; JD or Enrolled Agent may be accepted in lieu of CPA.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with new business development, existing clients and mentoring team members.
• Deliver tax due diligence, structuring, modeling and other engagements related to acquisitions and dispositions.
• Collaborate with SALT, International Tax, and Federal Tax Solutions groups as needed.
• Perform tax due diligence reviews of returns, legal documents, and financial statements; write reports.
• Lead engagement progress by monitoring time, budgets and deadlines; communicate developments to engagement principal with conclusions.

CLA is currently seeking a Manager/Director - Transaction Tax to join our Transaction Tax practice.

How you’ll create opportunities in this Manager/Director - Transaction Tax role:

• Manage and develop relationships with new business development, existing clients and mentoring team members.
• Develop client relationships by delivering a full range of tax due diligence, structuring, modeling and other special project engagements related to acquisitions and dispositions by private equity investor groups, family offices and strategic buyers.
• Work with CLA specialty tax groups as needed (SALT, International Tax, and Federal Tax Solutions).
• Perform tax due diligence projects through a review of tax returns, legal documents, and financial statements, and write and review tax due diligence reports.
• Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment that offers a ton of flexibility, autonomy, and the encouragement to make things happen.
• Lead the engagement progress by monitoring time, budgets and deadlines for adherence.
• Communicate important developments to the engagement principal along with facts, conclusions, and recommendations.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience performing federal, state, and/or international tax compliance, planning, and consulting services
• CPA license certification required. A JD degree or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification may be accepted in lieu of a CPA license

The compensation range for this position in Colorado is: $143,000.00 - $232,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $131,000.00 - $232,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $154,000.00 - $249,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $131,000.00 - $224,000.00

The compensation range for this position in New York is: $171,000.00 - $258,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Viginia is: $165,000.00 - $249,000.00
