Job summary

PitchBook, a Morningstar company, seeks a seasoned Data Operations leader to manage APAC data teams. You will mentor, recruit, and guide multi-regional staff while partnering with Product, Engineering, and Sales to close data gaps and improve workflow efficiency.

Expect to lead strategic initiatives, ensure data quality, and drive cross-functional collaboration in a fast-evolving market. 15 days remote work flexibility, with a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field required/preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in financial data operations, investment research, or private markets intelligence.
  • Experience managing multi-regional teams and recruiting.
  • Experience with SQL and/or Python to analyze operational data.
  • Experience with BI tools (PowerBI) for KPI tracking and root cause analysis.
  • Experience implementing automation or AI-enabled research tools.
  • Experience with APAC private/public capital markets and regionalized research methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Foster department culture and champion DEI initiatives across the department.
  • Lead recruiting and hiring across APAC data operations teams, including phone screens and on-site interviews.
  • Train and ramp new hires on APAC data operations teams.
  • Maintain regular 1:1s with direct reports to recap performance and support career development.
  • Create quarterly benchmarking documents on APAC datasets.
  • Develop expansive market knowledge of APAC data providers.
  • Participate in bi-weekly Data Operations Leadership meetings.
  • Develop and drive APAC teams' vision and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform QA on production profiles across APAC datasets.
  • Support development, maintenance, and rollout of APAC research methodologies.
  • Lead business reviews highlighting operational successes and challenges for APAC data operations.
  • Assist budgeting, forecasting, and staffing in collaboration with the director.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Go-To-Market to prioritize enhancements and address data gaps.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to enhance data collection tools and workflows.

Primary Job Responsibilities:


  • Foster department culture, champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the department (5%)

  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts across for APAC data operations teams, including phone screens and on‑site interviews (2%)

  • Accountable for the training and ramping success of new hires on the APAC data operations teams (2%)

  • Maintain regular cadence of 1:1s with each direct report to recap performance, identify improvement opportunities and support career development (8%)

  • Accountable for creating quarterly competitive benchmarking documents on APAC datasets (2%)

  • Develop expansive market knowledge of all players within the APAC data providers' market (5%)

  • Contribute and participate in bi‑weekly Data Operations Leadership meetings to review department wide initiatives, people development, ELT updates, hiring and data quality (5%)

  • Develop and spearhead APAC teams' vision and accountable for driving strategic initiatives related to those teams (30%)

  • Accountable for performing quality assurance on production profiles across various APAC datasets (10%)

  • Support the development, maintenance, documentation, and rollout of APAC research methodologies (10%)

  • Accountable for running and highlighting operational success and challenges during standardized biweekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews around APAC data operations (3%)

  • Support operational and dataset strategy through budgeting, forecasting, and staffing through collaboration with director (3%)

  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Go‑To‑Market teams to prioritize enhancements, address data gaps, and support client needs (10%)

  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to enhance data collection tools, automation capabilities, and workflow efficiency (5%)

  • 15 days remote work flexibility for a whole year

  • 6 direct reports: 4 Data Operations Leads & 2 Senior Data Operations Associate


Skills and Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field, or foreign equivalent and 5 years of related experience in financial data operations, investment research, or private markets intelligence in Data Operations related positions. In alternative, we accept a Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field, or foreign equivalent and 3 years of related experience in financial data operations, investment research, or private markets intelligence in Data Operations related positions.


This position also requires People management experience overseeing multi-regional teams. Experience with recruiting and team development. Experience leveraging SQL and/or Python to analyze operational data and improve workflow efficiency. Experience with BI tools (e.g. PowerBI) for root cause analysis and KPI tracking. Experience implementing automation or AI-enabled research tools. Experience with building and executing multi-year data expansion roadmaps.
