Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned cybersecurity leader to guide the 24x7 Fusion Center and Incident Response operations. The role focuses on organizing cyber capabilities, delivering services, and mentoring a growing team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a cybersecurity field.
  • CISSP or SANS 700+ Series certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years leading technology teams.
  • 5+ years in information security technologies and systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience with security and privacy regulations (PCI DSS, SOX, FRCP...).
  • Ability to manage dispersed teams incl. offshore/onshore.

Responsibilities

  • Improve and manage cybersecurity services, service levels, roadmap, metrics, and KPIs.
  • Lead the organization’s 24x7 Fusion Center and Incident Response functions.
  • Oversee analysts, responders, and incident coordinators in monitoring and response.

Job description

  • Assist and advise the Cybersecurity Director in organizing, managing, and delivering cybersecurity functional responsibilities
  • Lead a team of cybersecurity caregivers and deliver cybersecurity services for the assigned function
  • Train, mentor, coach, recruit, develop, and retain cybersecurity personnel
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement cybersecurity tools, processes, and functionality
  • Develop and adopt cybersecurity best practices and standards
  • Coordinate with Information Technology teams, service providers, and stakeholders on enterprise initiatives and new technology capabilities
  • Improve and manage cybersecurity services, service levels, roadmap, metrics, and KPIs
  • Lead the organization’s 24x7 Fusion Center and Incident Response functions
  • Oversee analysts, responders, and incident coordinators conducting monitoring, threat detection, investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident improvement
  • Provide operational leadership for event monitoring, incident response, escalation management, and security operations processes
  • Maintain MTTD and MTTR targets, 24x7 coverage, service availability, alert fidelity, incident SLAs, response automation, and SOC maturity
  • Direct day-to-day SOC operations, workload management, staffing, and resource allocation
  • Monitor security events, alerts, and indicators of compromise across cloud, endpoint, network, identity, email, and application environments
  • Establish incident response processes and operational readiness for emerging threats
  • Set performance expectations, training plans, career pathways, and succession planning
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing mentoring and professional development
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree through an accredited institution, or an advanced cybersecurity certification such as the CISSP or SANS 700+ Series
  • 3+ years of leading technology teams
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in information systems/security technologies and systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of the eight Information System Security domains in the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge and the four core Information Security Practice areas and tasks for CISM
  • Knowledge of information security regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH
  • Effective leadership and communication skills
  • Strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Results and customer service orientation
  • Risk-based approach to implementing cybersecurity best practices and safeguards
  • ITIL certification preferred
  • 7+ years of related experience preferred
  • Experience with security and privacy regulations including PCI DSS, SOX, FRCP, JCAHO, GLBA, State Breach, FERPA, and FCRA preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare or healthcare insurance environment preferred
  • Ability to manage geographically dispersed teams, including off-shore and on-shore preferred
  • Knowledge of SOCs, incident response methodologies, threat detection and hunting, SIEM/SOAR, EDR, network security, MITRE ATT&CK, and NIST 800-61 preferred
  • Experience building and managing high-performing cybersecurity teams preferred
  • Ability to communicate information, operate computers and IT equipment, read monitors/documents, and remain seated or standing for long periods
