Responsibilities

  • Lead global Customer and Vendor Master Operations for Supply Chain, ensuring accurate, complete, timely, and policy-compliant creation and governance of customer and vendor records across SC&O systems.
  • Own and continuously improve end-to-end customer and vendor master data processes, including intake, validation, approval, creation, change, blocking, and duplicate prevention.
  • Partner with Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Global Supply Chain, IT and Shared Services to align master data design with operational requirements.
  • Serve as a key systems leader for customer and vendor master capabilities in ERP and adjacent systems, supporting enhancements, data migrations, testing, and transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain governance, controls, segregation‑of‑duties, SOPs, and evidence for audit readiness, privacy, compliance, and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team and/or matrixed resources, fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Monitor service levels, throughput, backlog, performance, and data quality metrics; address root causes of master data issues.
  • Provide SME support for data standardization, process harmonization, automation, and lifecycle governance.

Job Description

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Manager, Customer and Vendor Master Operations. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview

The Manager, Customer and Vendor Master Operations is a global role within the Supply Chain Services capability, providing operational leadership and systems enablement to Global Supply Chain. Sitting within Supply Chain & Operations (SC&O) Systems, this role owns the integrity, governance, and performance of customer and vendor master data and related operational processes that underpin planning, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. This position plays a critical role in ensuring scalable, compliant, and efficient supply chain operations by aligning customer and vendor master operations with enterprise systems, controls, and transformation priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead global Customer and Vendor Master Operations for Supply Chain, ensuring accurate, complete, timely, and policy-compliant creation and governance of customer and vendor records across SC&O systems.
  • Own and continuously improve end-to-end customer and vendor master data processes, including request intake, validation, approval, creation, change, blocking, deactivation, and duplicate prevention that support supply chain execution and reporting.
  • Partner with Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Global Supply Chain, Finance, IT, and Shared Services to translate align master data design with operational and business requirements into standardized customer and vendor data processes and rules.
  • Serve as a key systems leader for customer and vendor master capabilities in ERP and adjacent systems, supporting enhancements, integrations, data migrations, testing, and transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain governance, controls, segregation‑of‑duties requirements, standard operating procedures, and evidence needed to support audit readiness, privacy, compliance, and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team and/or matrixed resources, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Monitor service levels, throughput, backlog, performance, and data quality metrics; address root causes and elevate complex customer or vendor master issues that affect business operations.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise and decision support for customer and vendor master initiatives, including data standardization, process harmonization, automation, and lifecycle governance.
Qualifications
Education
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred: MBA or advanced degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Systems, or Data Management.
Required
Experience and Skills
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in master data operations, customer or vendor data management, shared services, supply chain, procurement, commercial operations, finance operations, or enterprise systems within a global organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or governing customer and/or vendor master data and related processes in enterprise systems such as SAP or another ERP platform.
  • Strong understanding of customer and vendor master data and its impact on order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, supply chain, tax, finance, and regulatory processes.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional, global stakeholders, manage operational priorities, and influence without direct authority.
  • Experience improving standardized workflows, service delivery, data controls, and performance metrics in a regulated environment.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting customer and vendor master data transformations, ERP implementations, or SAP S/4HANA Business Partner and Customer-Vendor Integration initiatives.
  • Prior people management or matrix leadership experience in a global setting.
  • Familiarity with medical device, life science, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and change management skills.
Other
  • Language: English required; additional languages preferred in a global role.
  • Travel: Up to ~15% domestic and international travel.
  • Certifications: SAP MDG, data management, process improvement, supply chain, or project management certification preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is

102,000.00 - 204,000.00 USD Annual

Additional Description For Pay Transparency

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
