Job summary

Octane Lending seeks a highly analytical Credit Risk Strategy Manager to build and oversee credit strategies aligned with risk appetite. You will analyze origination and loan performance to craft underwriting approaches that responsibly grow the portfolio and improve profitability.

The role requires leadership in policy development, KPI design, and collaboration with Tech, Product, Sales, and Finance to drive credit product initiatives. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 4+ years of credit analysis experience with data visualization tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and Excel.
  • Experience turning analyses into actionable recommendations and communicating findings clearly.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced data analytics and advise on underwriting strategies for loan origination, loan amount assignment, and loan pricing to optimize profitability.
  • Collaborate with Tech, Product, Sales, and Finance to implement new credit initiatives and optimize existing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain credit policy documents and enhance risk processes.
  • Design and monitor KPIs to provide insights into the credit lifecycle.
  • Maintain quality control and validation of risk processes.
  • Partner with portfolio risk to track performance and take corrective actions within risk appetite.
  • Develop business insights and present proposals to C-level and external partners.

We are seeking a highly analytical Credit Risk Strategy Manager to support our team. As a vital member of the team, you will establish and oversee credit strategies that align with our risk appetite and provide strategic guidance for our powersports portfolio. You will analyze origination and loan performance data to develop optimal underwriting strategies that grow Octane’s lending responsibly and enhance portfolio profitability. The ideal candidate is a problem solver with strong critical thinking abilities and exceptional communication skills to articulate ideas and thought processes clearly to external partners and senior management.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced data analytics and advise on underwriting strategies for loan origination, loan amount assignment, and loan pricing to optimize profitability.
  • Work cross-functionally with Tech, Product, Sales, and Finance teams to implement new credit product initiatives and optimize existing credit strategies that further our mission of providing convenient point-of-sale financing to niche consumer products.
  • Take ownership of credit policy documentation and enhance policies and processes to mitigate credit risk exposure.
  • Design and monitor key KPIs to provide insights into the credit lifecycle.
  • Maintain quality control and validation to ensure risk processes are working as expected.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio risk team to track credit performance and take action to manage the portfolio within the organization’s risk management appetite.
  • Develop business insights and communicate proposals to C-level audiences and external partners.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, econometrics, decision sciences, or engineering (advanced degree preferred).
  • Strong understanding of consumer credit and lending lifecycle.
  • 4+ years of experience in performing credit analysis, including experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau/Power BI.
  • Exceptional hands‑on experience with Python, SQL, and Excel.
  • Experience taking analyses from raw data to polished recommendations and communicating complex, technical findings to broad audiences.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Compensation

In addition to salary, Total Rewards include bonus eligibility, a stock option package, and benefits as outlined below. The role described above offers a base salary of $110,000 to $150,000 + corporate bonus eligibility. Your offer will be based on location, the alignment of your qualifications with the requirements of the job and internal equity
