Capital One is seeking a Manager, Creative Art Director to lead creative development for the Retail Bank, onsite in Richmond, VA. You will guide brand expression across paid and owned channels and build scalable design capabilities with cross-functional teams.

You will deliver high-quality design for digital touchpoints, develop brand-aligned design systems, and lead teams of art directors, designers, and copywriters.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience leading creative teams.
• At least 3 years of experience designing for digital channels, including social media.
• At least 5 years of experience as an art director using design tools including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Portfolio submission of creative work for consideration.

Capital One is seeking a Manager, Creative Art Director to lead creative development for the Retail Bank. In this onsite role in Richmond, VA, you will shape how the brand comes to life across digital experiences, guiding creative strategy and execution across paid and owned channels while helping teams build scalable design capabilities.

Role focus

You will deliver high-quality design across multiple digital touchpoints, develop and maintain brand-aligned design systems and libraries, and partner with internal groups to remove obstacles and establish Brand Creative as a strategic thought partner. The role also includes leading cross-functional creative teams composed of full-time associates, contractors, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design across digital channels including paid social, display, email, web, and SEM, with a strong attention to detail and a high bar for creative excellence.
• Develop design systems, libraries, AI-tool integration, and guidance aligned to brand standards to help internal and agency teams elevate and scale their work.
• Lead and inspire teams of art directors, designers, and copywriters, supporting a mix of full-time associates, contractors, and agencies to create strategically grounded, insight-driven creative, while elevating craft across the group.
• Apply expert knowledge of advertising and marketing trends to translate business intent into creative strategies and executions that market Capital One products effectively.
• Understand intended audiences by interpreting market research and test results, then use findings to develop and optimize creative.
• Build and maintain relationships with partner groups including digital, marketing, operations, and legal to anticipate and address obstacles and establish Brand Creative as a strategic thought partner.
• Present and influence with a convincing, inspiring style to increase buy-in and open doors to new opportunities for both your team and department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 3 years of experience leading creative teams.
• At least 3 years of experience designing for digital channels, including social media.
• At least 5 years of experience as an art director using design tools including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Portfolio submission of creative work for consideration.

Preferred qualifications

• 5 or more years of experience directly leading creative teams.
• Experience at a large in-house creative team.
• Experience working with a Fortune 100 brand.
• Experience in storyboarding, motion graphics, and/or video production.
• Experience with premarket and in-market testing tools.
• Experience leveraging GAI, personalization, and optimization tools in creative development and marketing.

Compensation

Richmond, VA: USD 138,100 - 157,700 per year. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Candidates hired for other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the annualized salary offered will be reflected in the offer letter.
