Job summary

McKinstry is seeking an experienced trainer to lead field leadership and craft workforce development training across projects. You will design and deploy curriculum, deliver in classroom, virtual, and onsite settings, and coordinate with project leadership to minimize disruption to field operations.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years as a foreman, 5+ years delivering training, and strong facilitation and communication skills. Familiarity with LMS, union environments, and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years general foreman level trade experience with credible hands-on knowledge of field craft work.
  • 5+ years' experience delivering, instructing, or facilitating training, mentoring, or apprenticeship instruction.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage trade audiences and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Working knowledge of unionized labor environments, trade practices, and job-site safety requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Gather feedback on training effectiveness and relay it to curriculum owners to inform program improvements.

The Opportunity with McKinstry

This position delivers McKinstry's field leadership and craft workforce development training to trade personnel across projects and regions. The Trainer develops and deploys curriculum and learning content in the field, ensuring trade teams build the leadership and technical competencies needed to perform safely and effectively. This role partners closely with the Labor Workforce Development Program Director and trade leadership to schedule, deliver, and reinforce training where the work happens.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Training Delivery & Deployment
  • Create and deliver field leadership and craft workforce development training to trade personnel using McKinstry curriculum, in classroom, virtual, and onsite job settings.
  • Schedule and coordinate training sessions with trade superintendents and project leadership to minimize disruption to field operations.
  • Facilitate hands‑on demonstrations and reinforce learning in the field to ensure concepts of transfer to day‑to‑day craft work.
Build Plan and Task Based Labor Plan Facilitation
  • Manage trade specific facilitators across the C-DIV.
  • Maintain a regular connection with craft and staff leaders within each C-DIV business unit to support the success of the Build Plan and Task Based Labor Plan programs.
  • Receive and vet feedback on the processes, incorporating small improvements when practical and elevating continuous improvement opportunities to the OpEx team as appropriate.
Craft Workforce Development Support
  • Support trade personnel in building leadership and craft competencies, providing coaching and guidance during and after training.
  • Track participation, completion, and competency progress, maintaining accurate training records in McKinstry systems.
Program Execution & Feedback
  • Gather participant and field‑leadership feedback on training effectiveness and relay it to the Labor Workforce Development Program Director and curriculum owners to inform program improvements.
  • Ensure training materials, equipment, and logistics are prepared, and that sessions are conducted in line with established standards and safety requirements.
Collaboration
  • Partner with the Functional Training cohort, Labor Relations, and trade leadership to align delivery with workforce needs and maintain consistency across regions and trades.

  • Facilitation Skill: Engages trade audiences effectively and adapts delivery to different learning styles and field conditions.
  • Craft Credibility: Earns trust of trade personnel through hands‑on field experience and practical knowledge.
  • Training Outcomes: Achieves strong documented completion rates, positive participant feedback, and demonstrated competency gains. To include accurate certification tracking.
  • Adaptability: Works effectively across union and non‑union environments and adjusts to varying project sites and schedules.
  • Collaboration: Coordinates smoothly with trade leadership and the program team to deploy training without disrupting field work.
  • Engagement: Best in class workforce engagement scores.

The pay range for this position is $98,900 - $151,300 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
