Job summary

Sony Music Entertainment in New York seeks a Contract Administration Manager to summarize contracts between SME’s Global Digital Business and digital service providers. You will create detailed contract summaries, track deadlines, and support cross‑department reporting and audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

The role requires at least 2 years of contract-reading experience, ideally in entertainment, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience reading and summarizing contracts, including time in law school or as a paralegal.
  • Entertainment/music industry experience is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, timely and accurate.
  • Comfortable with various computer software applications.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Create and code detailed summaries of contracts between SME’s Global Digital Business and digital service providers.
  • Ensure summary data meets requirements of various SME departments (Copyright, Finance) and collaborate to refine summarization requirements.
  • Track contract deadlines (term, payment due dates) throughout each contract.
  • Communicate with departments relying on summarized data and develop systems for knowledge management (reports, distributions).
  • Assist with due diligence, document production and audits.
  • Perform special projects for Business and Legal Affairs as requested.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to join the music industry and gain knowledge about all of the contracts that we have in place to make our music available around the world. The Contract Administration Manager analyzes and summarizes the contracts that we have in place with various digital service partners.

What you’ll do:
  • Create and code detailed summaries of contracts between SME’s Global Digital Business and digital service providers in SME’s contract summary system.
  • Ensure summary data meets requirements of various SME departments, including Copyright and Finance. Regularly collaborate with these departments to adjust and refine summarization requirements.
  • Track deadlines (e.g., contract term, payment due dates) through the term of each contract.
  • Communicate with various departments throughout SME that rely on summarized data and contractual information (e.g., Finance, Copyright, Reporting, Royalties), and develop and implement systems for knowledge management (e.g., designing and distributing recurring reports).
  • Assist with due diligence, document production and audits.
  • Perform special projects for Business and Legal Affairs, as requested.
Who you are:
  • You have a minimum of 2 years prior experience with reading and summarizing contracts, which could include experience during law school or as a paralegal
  • Entertainment/music industry experience is preferred
  • You are detail-oriented, organized, timely and accurate
  • You are comfortable with various computer software applications
  • You are an excellent communicator and enthusiastic collaborator who works well with team members
  • You are able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • You are proactive, resourceful and can work autonomously and self-sufficiently

New York Pay Range

$75,000—$85,000 USD
