Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a senior‑level Construction Manager to provide strategic leadership and executive oversight of large, complex capital construction projects supporting national security infrastructure.

Lead the Laboratory's most complex construction initiatives. Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a senior‑level Construction Manager (CM‑4) to provide strategic leadership and executive‑level oversight of large, complex, high‑risk capital construction projects supporting national security infrastructure. This role serves as a senior authority in construction execution, integrating safety, technical rigor, regulatory compliance, and enterprise‑level coordination.
Position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Must meet DOE O 426.2 requirements, including nuclear experience criteria.
DOE Order 426.2A: Requires a bachelor of science degree in engineering or related science or technology, and 4 years of nuclear experience. Job‑related education or experience may be substituted on a case‑by‑case basis. The degree may be used to substitute up to 50 percent of the experience requirement per section I 4.e of the Contractor Requirements Document (CRD).
May include walking, stair climbing, kneeling, and balancing.
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM USA. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
On‑site construction environment; indoor/outdoor.
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
This position is for a Term appointment. A full‑time employee hired for a period of up to a maximum of 10 years.
Q clearance. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires U.S. citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
New‑Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.
Position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712. These requirements include ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. This requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
