Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a senior leader for Aircraft Configuration Management in Fort Worth. The role guides a technical team to set up aircraft configurations, monitors maintenance records, and drives quality and productivity while ensuring compliance with AA policies.

The candidate will oversee budgeting, cross-location leadership, and development of staff, including contract personnel, to achieve strategic goals and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications

• 5 years supervisory experience.
• Experience leading an organization in multiple locations.
• Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures.
• Experience managing budgets.
• Computer knowledge of STC, SAP and SCEPTRE.
• Lean/Six Sigma accreditation (LSS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical organization with tactical and strategic decision making to support airline activities.
• Oversee professional development of team members and contract staff.
• Manage overall performance of the group.
• Guide strategic direction and ensure execution of methods to achieve it.
• Manage the group budget and resources.
• Act as a culture leader building trust across the organization.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of new set-ups in the TechOps system (SCEPTRE).
• Forecast financial and staffing needs to meet aircraft configuration objectives.
• Maintain internal self-audit programs to comply with AA policies.
• Drive continuous improvement across Aircraft Configuration Management and cross-department processes.
• Maintain KPIs to measure and improve performance.
• Travel periodically.

• This job is a member of the Aircraft Configuration Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
• Responsible for leading a team of employees in the set-up of the aircraft and major assemblies allowable configuration and monitoring of aircraft maintenance records in source systems. In addition, leads, coaches and develops all employees to excel in achieving key goals and encourage quality and productivity while insuring ensuring compliance with all company rules and regulations.

• Evaluates and forecasts financial/staffing needs to meet the infrastructure needs and objectives of aircraft configuration management and control
• Maintains internal department self-audit programs to ensure practices continue to meet AA policies
• Maintains a continuous improvement program for Aircraft Configuration Management and Control and work cross departmentally to resolve process flow issues
• Maintains KPI’s (Key Process Indicators) to measure and improve performance
• Periodic travel required

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• 5 years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• 3 years experience in a leadership role
• Experience leading an organization in multiple locations
• Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures
• Experience managing budgets
• Computer knowledge of STC, SAP and SCEPTRE
• Yellow certification from a qualified source for Lean/Six Sigma (LSS) accrediation
  

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles
• Understanding of project management techniques
• Strong planning, delegating and organizational skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task while adjusting to rapidly changing priorities
• Innovative and technical individual, with exceptional business judgment, as well as the initiative and competence to make a significant contribution to the AA organization
• Working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs)
