Compensation: New hires, re-hires, and internal transfers typically receive a starting salary between the posted minimum and the average pay for their classification, based on experience and qualifications. The top half of the salary range is for candidates exceeding role requirements, and the maximum is for those far exceeding qualifications.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Office of Governance (OG) supports school systems, ensures student safety, and upholds Texas education law with integrity and excellence. We work with local education agencies through Field Support and Compliance & Investigations to promote best practices and create safe, high-quality educational environments.

The Compliance Review Unit (CRU) within the Special Investigations Division investigates violations of the Texas Education Code, including misconduct by educators and district officials. The CRU Manager leads a team of investigators, manages staff, fosters partnerships, and improves operational efficiency. This role reports to the Director of Special Investigations and offers a hybrid work schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Team Management and Supervision: Lead and develop a high-performing team, set clear objectives, and evaluate progress.
  2. Compliance Reviews: Oversee thorough investigations of allegations against local education agencies, enhance investigation processes.
  3. Quality Assurance and Program Effectiveness: Monitor performance, ensure high-quality work products, and maintain standards.
  4. Process Improvement and Optimization: Analyze performance data, identify risks, and implement improvements.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • At least four years of experience in leading or supervising investigations, complaint reviews, or compliance monitoring in education or government entities.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Belief in the potential of all Texas students.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, including Texas Penal, Education, Family Codes, and Administrative Code.
  • Experience conducting investigations according to established procedures.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement and embody agency values.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
