Job summary

Energy Transfer seeks a Manager, Commercial Asset Optimization to identify and advance opportunities that boost asset utilization, remove constraints, and maximize value across its portfolios. You will work with commercial, operations, engineering, scheduling, and project development teams to evaluate performance, prioritize high‑value initiatives, and lead them from concept to execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in midstream, refining, petrochemical, industrial gas or related energy industries.
  • Experience across commercial, operational, and engineering functions.
  • Strong economic analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to identify and develop complex business opportunities and drive them toward execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop asset optimization opportunities to improve utilization, capacity, reliability, and commercial performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Scheduling, and Business Development teams to remove system constraints.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to align asset capabilities with market opportunities and maximize enterprise value.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of optimization and growth opportunities with priority based on value and feasibility.
  • Perform economic evaluations, sensitivity analyses, and financial modeling to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Construction to develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Support development of value-chain opportunities across NGLs, Refined Products, Petrochemicals, and Industrial Gases.

Summary:

The Manager, Commercial Asset Optimization is responsible for identifying, developing, and advancing opportunities that improve asset utilization, remove operational constraints, and maximize value across Energy Transfer's NGL, Refined Products, Petrochemical, Industrial Gas, and related infrastructure systems.

This position works across commercial, operations, engineering, scheduling, and project development organizations to evaluate asset performance, prioritize high-value opportunities, and lead initiatives from concept development through execution. The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business results.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to evaluate complex systems, develop business cases, and lead collaborative efforts that improve throughput, increase reliability, optimize logistics, and support long-term growth objectives.

This highly visible role provides the opportunity to work with leaders across Commercial, Operations, Engineering, and Project Development while shaping the future growth and optimization of Energy Transfer's asset portfolio. Successful candidates will gain broad exposure to strategic decision-making, capital project development, and enterprise-wide value creation initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop asset optimization opportunities that improve utilization, capacity, reliability, and commercial performance across Energy Transfer's asset portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Scheduling, and Business Development teams to identify and remove system constraints.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to align asset capabilities with market opportunities and maximize enterprise value.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of optimization and growth opportunities, prioritizing initiatives based on value creation, execution feasibility, and strategic alignment.
  • Perform economic evaluations, sensitivity analyses, and financial modeling to support management decision-making and project prioritization.
  • Analyze asset utilization, throughput, operational performance, and market conditions to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop business cases and project recommendations for capital and non‑capital optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Construction organizations to develop project scopes, capital estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Support development of integrated value‑chain opportunities involving NGLs, Refined Products, Petrochemicals, Industrial Gases, and potentially Crude Oil and Natural Gas systems.
  • Lead initiatives through the project development lifecycle from concept evaluation through project sanction and implementation support.
  • Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools that enable data‑driven asset optimization decisions.
  • Present recommendations and project updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and value creation across business functions.
  • Conduct duties in an ethical manner and model Energy Transfer's ethics and compliance standards.

  • Experience with throughput optimization, logistics optimization, debottlenecking initiatives, and operational improvement programs.
  • Experience presenting analyses and recommendations to executive leadership.

Working Conditions:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial and manufacturing facilities, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and operating equipment requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
