Job summary

The American Academy of Dermatology in Rosemont, IL seeks a Manager, Clinical Research to review literature, analyze articles for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and collaborate with physician work groups and Academy staff. The role supports scientific and methodological aspects of guideline development and research priorities.

Responsibilities include identifying and evaluating articles, compiling data tables, and assisting in strategic planning to advance the Academy's mission.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in biological sciences or related field required.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience with clinical research.
  • Minimum 3 years evaluating scientific journal articles.
  • Strong familiarity with medical writing and terminology.
  • Background in reviewing scientific/clinical research literature in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience using internet searches with Medline or PubMed with an analytical approach.
  • Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based guidelines.
  • Project Coordination – ability to coordinate clinical guideline development and research products across timelines.
  • Research Skills – ability to search published literature and assess study strengths/limitations.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and volunteer physicians.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Ability to execute projects under modest supervision.
  • Capable of working in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
  • Strategic thinking and adaptability to change.
  • Project management – ability to manage tasks and deadlines.
  • Qualitative and quantitative research experience.

  • Serve as primary CCTF liaison to expert physician work groups developing Clinical Practice Guidelines and supporting the Academy’s research agenda.
  • Identify, review and analyze scientific articles for assigned guideline topics; coordinate literature searches with Medical Librarian.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate articles for guidelines; develop summary tables for physicians to formulate recommendations.
  • Contribute to intradepartmental requests for scientific/research support as needed.
  • Assist the Director with recommending strategic goals related to department and Academy mission; contribute to programs to meet these goals.

Salary Range: $79,521.00 To $96,562.00 Annually

The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Manager, Clinical Research located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for reviewing literature, identify and analyze scientific articles for the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines working in collaboration with physicians. Serve as the scientific and methodological consultant to volunteer guideline and research agenda physician work groups, and Academy staff as needed.

  • Serve as primary CCTF liaison to the expert physician work groups developing Clinical Practice Guidelines and supporting the Academy’s research agenda as assigned. Provide scientific, methodological, and administrative support for work group activities.
  • Identify, review and analyze scientific articles for assigned guideline topic(s). Work with the Medical Librarian to coordinate the comprehensive search/retrieval of literature.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate articles for inclusion in the guideline. Develop tables that summarize the data from selected articles for the use of physicians work groups to formulate recommendations for the guideline.
  • Contribute to the completion of intradepartmental requests for scientific/research support as needed.
  • Assist the Director with recommending and determining appropriate strategic goals that relate to the department and the overall Academy mission. Contribute to the development and implementation of programs to fulfill these goals as appropriate.
Requirements:

  • Research Skills - Strong ability to search published literature. Understanding of scientific study and clinical trial structure and design. Skill in assessing study strengths and limitations.
  • Communication- Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication with colleagues and volunteer physicians.
  • Organizational Skills - Strong organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
  • Ability to execute projects under modest supervision.
  • Capable of working in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
