Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans seeks a Manager, Clinical Program Inpatient to oversee inpatient operations and programming, ensuring efficient care, quality, and regulatory compliance. You will supervise clinical staff, coordinate care, and maintain accurate documentation.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work, a current licensure, and strong leadership, communication, and crisis-intervention skills.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work or qualified by education/experience in psychiatric and substance use patient care.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles required; inpatient hospital experience preferred.
  • Current unencumbered clinical social work or counseling license as required by the state.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and mentor therapy staff; conduct performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with Director, Clinical Services about programming, staffing, and clinical concerns.
  • Conduct and oversee chart audits to ensure treatment and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor quality assurance and patient satisfaction data to improve program effectiveness.
  • Maintain relationships with referral sources and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director and team to optimize treatment programs.
  • Ensure all therapy interventions are documented per clinical standards.
  • Supervise therapist adherence to assessments and treatment planning.
  • Assist with therapist scheduling and coverage to meet staffing needs.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions and develop group programming.
  • Oversee discharge, transition, and after-care planning for patients.
  • Demonstrate crisis intervention skills and ensure patient safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Job description

The Manager, Clinical Program Inpatient ensures that all operations and programing in the inpatient clinical department operate efficiently and professionally while providing a high standard of patient satisfaction. This position monitors care coordination and quality of care to identify areas for improvement. The Manager, Clinical Program oversees the work performance of all assigned clinical staff. This role is responsible for ensuring the clinical documentation is current and accurate and meets all regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for overall coordination of school, work, or case management information for patients. Reports to the Director of Clinical Services. This ensures programs are compliant with all laws, rules, and regulations of federal and state licensing agencies, as well as TJC standards for quality care.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to address clinical concerns and optimize treatment programs.
  • Ensure all therapy interventions (individual, group, and family) are conducted and documented per clinical standards.
  • Supervise therapist adherence to required assessments and patient treatment planning.
  • Assist with therapist scheduling and coverage to meet staffing needs.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions and contribute to the development of group programming.
  • Oversee appropriate and timely discharge, transition, and after-care planning for patients.
  • Demonstrate crisis intervention skills and assist the team in ensuring patient safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements:
Education / Experience:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work or is qualified by education and experience in the social services needs of patients with psychiatric and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles required. Previous experience in an inpatient hospital program preferred.
  • Current unencumbered clinical social work or counseling license as required by state.

  • Must successfully complete a Basic Life Saving (BLS) course and an Oceans approved deescalation program.
Work Environment:

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
