Overview

Montefiore's Wakefield Recovery Center services Adults who have a substance use disorder, or who have a history of substance use and would like to prevent relapse. The Wakefield Recovery Center Program Manager oversees clinical and administrative operations for an outpatient substance use treatment program. Supervises a team of Substance Abuse Counselors, Social Workers and peer advocates. Provides individual and group supervision to ensure that clinical and regulatory standards are met and that the program's services and documentation comply with OASAS, Joint Commission, Department of Health and hospital standards. Ensures program's census is maintained at expected levels and coordinates intake process. Leads the program's interdisciplinary team meeting and coordinates care with the program's psychiatrist, psychologist and other staff.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day to day activities of program, including ensuring all patients are scheduled for clinical services as needed, all clinical and administrative standards are met, and patient concerns are addressed
  • Ensure program is complaint with city, state and federal regulations as well as hospital and program policies and procedures. Liaison with OASAS, NYC DOHMH, HRA and other agencies
  • Supervise staff to ensure provide high quality clinical services. Provide clinical in-service trainings and individual/group supervision
  • Coordinate referral and intake process to ensure prompt scheduling, accurate clinical evaluations, completion of all required documentation and effective engagement of patients
  • Develop and oversee program clinical offerings
  • Complete evaluations of supervised staff. Train staff in policies and initiate disciplinary process
  • Maintain staff coverage and monitor staffing issues including staff attendance
  • Manage incidents among patients and staff ensuring incidents are managed using de-escalation and conflict resolution strategies
  • Ensure patient rights are maintained. Participate in fair hearings when required
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings in compliance with program regulations. Oversee Counselor follow-up on team recommendations
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring and orienting of new staff
  • Maintain and supervise required reporting to program leadership and regulatory agencies
  • Provide coverage for Outpatient Managers including risk assessments, intakes, supervisions, and other areas as required
  • Facilitate implementation of CQI program with program staff, including timely reporting of CQI indicators to CQI Committee. Coordinate collection of annual patient satisfaction data
  • Conduct monthly chart reviews including utilization reviews and reviews of intakes, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans and discharge plans
  • Create and maintain relationships with referral agencies, including throughout Montefiore Health System, legal system, HRA and others
Requirements
  • Master's Degree Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or related field required
  • Training in assessment and treatment of substance use disorders required
  • License in Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), Clinical Psychology or other clinical field required
  • Knowledge of substance use and psychiatric risk assessment required
  • Clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of substance use and psychiatric disorders required
  • Knowledge of OASAS and Joint Commission standards relating to the treatment of substance use required
  • Must have knowledge of adults across the lifespan for patient-centered assessments and interventions
  • Working knowledge of Excel and electronic medical record systems required
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to work well independently, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing are required

The hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. This is a 100% grant funded position.
