What You Will Be Doing
The Own Brands department has an opening for a Manager, Category & Innovation on the Meat & Seafood team. This position can be located in any of the following locations: Pleasanton, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Plano, TX; Boise, ID; Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Portland, OR; or Seattle, WA.

The Manager, Category & Innovation will be responsible for achieving Own Brands category sales, profit, and share plans. In partnership with the Own Brands Senior Director, this person will support category strategy, manage business performance, and recommend and commercialize innovation to deliver top and bottom-line growth for assigned categories.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Sr. Director in developing Annual Operating Plan and growth strategy across the 4 P’s for assigned categories and own the tactical execution of plans.
  • Lead cross-functional team through Stage Gate process to commercialize innovation and/or product improvements from idea to successful retail execution, with responsibility for product scope, forecasting and financial targets, packaging design, and launch planning.
  • Analyze performance for assigned categories, and prepare period and quarterly reports, and annual category reviews.
  • Enable sales by working cross-functionally on an ongoing basis to ensure supply, costing and quality.
  • Become an expert on the business through ongoing analysis, trends and insights, and deep knowledge of category dynamics, the shopper, and competition.
  • Partner with National Meat & Seafood Team to identify and gain alignment on opportunities and priorities.
  • Leverage shopper insights, market data, and trends to identify “white space” opportunities and define long-term innovation pipelines.

The salary range is $105,900 to $137,580 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation Pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay, and retirement benefits.

What We Are Searching For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing, Economics, or Finance.
  • 5+ years of product innovation, brand management and/or category management experience in a CPG or retail company required. Seafood industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional team members and external stakeholders to deliver projects.
  • Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • High level of experience with syndicated data metrics and software.
  • Proven ability to analyze and identify insights from a combination of quantitative and qualitative data sources, and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated high capacity, strong work ethic and productivity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proven presentation skills with the ability to present to senior leaders.
