Manager Business Office - School of Medicine Central Pediatric Administration

Position Summary

The Business Office Manager collaborates with the Director of Operations and the Associate Chair of Administration to oversee business and operational functions within the central administration of the School of Medicine's Pediatrics department. This leadership role ensures accurate financial management, HR functions, communication, project coordination, and administrative oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the central administrative content expert, maintaining policies and procedures, and assisting in their development and updates.
  • Act as liaison for communication between Central Administration, Pediatrics divisions, UNC SOM, UNC Health, and external entities.
  • Oversee financial activities including funding review, purchasing, and budgeting in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Manage HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, staff supervision, and performance management in partnership with HCS and SOM HR teams.
  • Develop and analyze staff goals and activities to ensure objectives are met.
  • Maintain a qualified staff through orientation, training, and ongoing education.
  • Participate in setting and achieving central administration goals.
  • Coordinate space allocation and related projects with the Director of Operations.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: 5 years (Bachelor's), 9 years (Associate's), or 13 years (High school diploma) of administrative experience in healthcare.

Skills: Recent administrative experience in a large clinical/academic setting, familiarity with clinical research, office operations, proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of clinical operations is a plus.
