Position Summary

The Manager, Business Analytics provides strategic leadership for the enterprise analytics, reporting, and data platform ecosystem. This role is responsible for maximizing business value from Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and governed enterprise data products by delivering scalable analytical solutions, modern self-service reporting capabilities, and trusted business insights.

The Manager partners closely with business leaders, Data Engineering, Data Governance, AI and Machine Learning teams, and IT to establish a modern analytics operating model built on governed semantic models, enterprise data products, and cloud-based analytics platforms. The role ensures that analytics initiatives align with enterprise standards while accelerating decision‑making across Sales, Finance, Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.

A collaborative and technically credible leader, this role combines strong business acumen with modern analytics platform expertise. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to lead teams that deliver enterprise‑scale analytics solutions, improve adoption, and translate business strategy into measurable outcomes.

Essential Functions and Duties

Analytics Platform Leadership & Strategic Direction

• Lead the enterprise analytics strategy and roadmap for Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.
• Establish platform standards, governance practices, and delivery priorities that support reliable, scalable, and secure analytics.
• Promote adoption of governed self‑service analytics through certified semantic models, reusable data products, and trusted enterprise datasets.
• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure analytical solutions leverage modern lakehouse, data warehousing, and cloud architecture principles.
• Define and manage departmental goals and key performance indicators aligned with enterprise analytics objectives.
• Align analytics roadmap priorities, platform capacity, and delivery plans across business and technology teams.

Business Partnership & Analytics Delivery

• Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders across Sales, Finance, Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and other business functions.
• Lead structured discovery sessions to define business outcomes, KPIs, metrics, analytical requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure analytics requests are properly scoped, prioritized, documented, and aligned with certified enterprise datasets before development begins.
• Maintain traceability from business need through data product, semantic model, dashboard delivery, adoption, and KPI validation.
• Reduce downstream rework through disciplined intake, clear ownership, scope control, and strong stakeholder alignment.
• Translate complex business questions into scalable analytical solutions and actionable insights.

Power BI, Fabric & Databricks Enablement

• Establish best practices for Power BI semantic models, DAX, dashboard design, user experience, performance, release management, and adoption measurement.
• Guide the effective use of Microsoft Fabric capabilities, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, and Real‑Time Intelligence, where appropriate to business needs.
• Partner with Data Engineering on Databricks lakehouse patterns, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, data quality, and governed access to analytical data.
• Drive KPI standardization, semantic layer alignment, and metric governance across enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
• Enable responsible self‑service analytics while maintaining appropriate security, compliance, data quality, and lifecycle controls.
• Collaborate with AI and advanced analytics teams to integrate predictive and prescriptive insights into business workflows.

Governance, Standards & Modernization

• Define and maintain analytics standards for data modeling, semantic models, naming conventions, certification, documentation, testing, and release readiness.
• Partner with Data Governance leaders to strengthen data ownership, lineage, quality, access, and trusted‑data practices.
• Guide modernization of legacy reporting solutions into Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or other approved enterprise patterns.
• Assess SAP BusinessObjects content for coexistence, rationalization, retirement, or migration based on business value and technical fit.
• Ensure analytics and reporting solutions comply with company policies, security requirements, regulatory obligations, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Drive transparency and accountability across the analytics lifecycle through roadmap, backlog, delivery, quality, and adoption reporting.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

• Continuously evaluate analytics delivery workflows to improve quality, clarity, speed, and stakeholder experience.
• Implement measurable improvements in intake quality, delivery cycle time, platform adoption, business value realization, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Develop dashboards and reporting that monitor team effectiveness, platform health, delivery performance, backlog health, and solution adoption.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring analytical processes and reduce manual reporting effort.
• Support change management, communication, training, and enablement initiatives that strengthen enterprise analytics maturity.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for analytics, business intelligence, and business analysis professionals.
• Build a high‑performing, accountable team culture grounded in technical excellence, business value, clarity, ownership, and collaboration.
• Develop staff capabilities through mentoring, structured training, career progression planning, and hands‑on exposure to modern analytics platforms.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide consistent, constructive feedback.
• Identify future leadership potential and support succession planning within the Data Intelligence organization.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline, or four additional years of related experience in lieu of degree.

Required Knowledge

• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including semantic models, DAX, governance, deployment pipelines, security, performance, and enterprise administration.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, and Real‑Time Intelligence concepts.
• Strong understanding of Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, lakehouse architecture, and governed cloud analytics environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise data modeling, data warehousing, semantic layers, data products, KPI design, and metric governance.
• Knowledge of enterprise data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, security, privacy, and access‑control principles.
• Understanding of analytics operating models, self‑service enablement, platform adoption, and analytics product lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud analytics services, SQL, APIs, and modern enterprise integration patterns.

Required Experience

• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data platforms, enterprise reporting, data engineering, or related functions [twelve (12) years for non‑degreed candidates].
• Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience managing analytics, BI, reporting, data platform, or business analysis teams.
• Demonstrated experience implementing, scaling, or governing enterprise Power BI environments.
• Proven experience leading analytics modernization initiatives that leverage Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or comparable cloud data platforms.
• Experience developing enterprise reporting strategies, semantic model governance, KPI frameworks, and analytics operating models.
• Demonstrated ability to partner cross‑functionally with business leaders, Data Engineering, Data Governance, AI and Machine Learning, Security, and IT teams.
• Experience presenting analytics strategies, roadmaps, portfolio updates, and measurable business outcomes to senior leadership.

Preferred Experience

• Experience leading Microsoft Fabric implementation, adoption, or modernization programs.
• Experience with Databricks lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog, and enterprise data platform transformation initiatives.
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics programs.
• Experience with SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), SAP BW, or BOBJ‑to‑Power BI/Fabric modernization and coexistence strategies.
