Job summary

San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) seeks a Manager, Behavioral Health Services who will supervise enrollment, coordinate care, and supervise counselors. The role focuses on integrated mental health, substance use, and HIV counseling, with responsibility for DSM-V diagnoses and coordinating with EHR systems.

The position is based primarily at 940 Howard Street or 470 Castro Street in San Francisco, with occasional evenings and potential travel to other sites.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy.
  • CA State Licensed as LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW.
  • Two years of counseling experience, preferably with SFAF's Priority communities.
  • Knowledge of the DSM-V and ability to diagnose per DSM-V.
  • CBHS electronic medical record and EPIC knowledge preferred; Welligent a plus.
  • Experience in low-threshold walk-in centers or milieu-based community mental health settings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee enrollment from start to finish, including intake, paperwork, and counselor assignment; DSM-V diagnosis.
  • Support program in maintaining contract compliance and quality assurance enhancements.
  • Provide integrated mental health, substance use, and HIV counseling and treatment.
  • Assist staff with EHR systems, reports, data entry, and data platform training.
  • Provide administrative supervision for 1–3 staff counselors and clinical supervision to staff counselors and interns.

What is the position?

The Manager, Behavioral Health Servicesis responsible forproviding supervision, coordination, and management of care for all substance use and mental health program participants. This person is responsible for supervising the intake process from initial contact with Stonewall up to discharge. We'relooking for a culturally conscious mental health professional to handle tasks like matching participants with counselors, maneuver transfers, manage the flow of clients, care planning & coordination, initial diagnosis, and provide support to clients who wish to explore their use of alcohol and/or other substances.In this role the Manager, Behavioral Health Services will work with program leadership, DPH electronic health care staff, and other team leaders to be our electronic health record system specialist.

What are the main responsibilities?

  • Manage the enrollment process from start to finish including intake appointments, paperwork, and assigning to a counselor. As part of this process will need to be able to assess and diagnose using the DSM V.
  • Support the counseling program in maintaining day-to-day contract compliance and program enhancements to ensure quality assurance.
  • Provide group and individual integrated mental health, substance use, and HIV counseling and treatment.
  • Support staff and management with duties related to electronic health record systems (Welligent and Epic), running reports, entering data, and supporting staff with ongoing data platform training.
  • Provide administrative supervision for one to three staff counselors, and provide clinical supervision/consultation to staff counselors and clinical interns.

Who are we looking for?

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy required.
  • CA State Licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Two years of counseling experience required preferably with SFAF's Priority communities.
  • Must have experience with or be interested in providing services to folks with active. injection, non-injection and/or alcohol use in a model or care that accepts participant goals ranging from managed use to targeted abstinence to full abstinence.
  • Knowledge of the DSM-V and ability to diagnose according to the DSM-V
  • Knowledge of the CBHS electronic medical record and EPIC is preferred. Knowledge of Stonewall’s internal electronic health record (EHR), Welligent, is a plus.
  • Experience working in low threshold walk-in centers or milieu-based community mental health settings strongly preferred.

Where is the position located?

This position is located primarily at either our 940 Howard Street location or at our 470 Castro Street location as assigned. This role includes working occasional evening hours (typically until 7:30 PM, or later depending on program needs). The position may require traveling to other office locations and/or off-site meetings or trainings.

What we offer?

Salary/Hourly Rate : $95,000- $110,000

Benefits : SFAF is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for our full-time employees.We offer combined PTO/Sick Time Off of 24 days for the first two years of employment, 29 days after two years of employment. For retirement we offer a 403(b) Plan and SFAF matches employee contributes (1 to 1) up to 3% of Salary.
