Job summary

LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico seeks an experienced Planning Lead to manage the end-to-end asset work planning pipeline. You will scope, validate, and prioritize corrective, preventive, and capital activities in alignment with Asset Strategy and risk priorities.

You will coordinate with Operations and Engineering to sequence work, monitor permits and materials, ensure readiness, and drive governance through PREB and LTIP reporting.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • 5–7 years in a similar role with leadership experience.
  • Experience in a utility environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end planning for asset-related work including scoping, validation and prioritization.
  • Align plans with asset strategy and risk-based priorities for Operations.
  • Guide short- and long-term work plans with proper sequencing and readiness.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to ensure resources and permits.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards across teams.
  • Provide governance-relevant reporting and visibility into pipelines and schedules.

Job description

Job Summary:

Leads the end‑to‑end planning pipeline for asset‑related work by scoping, validating, and prioritizing corrective, preventive, and capital activities. Ensures Operations receives the right work at the right time by aligning all plans with risk‑based priorities established by Asset Strategy.

Job Description:
  • Controls corrective, preventive, and improvement task inventories while ensuring field readiness -including materials, access conditions, and asset status- and confirming PM/CM programs reflect Asset Strategy–defined test and inspection frequencies.
  • Guides the conversion of long‑term asset class strategies into actionable, risk‑aligned work scopes and ensures only validated, prioritized work is delivered to Operations with proper sequencing and readiness.
  • Evaluates the risk‑based investment and work prioritization framework, translating mitigation decisions into executable annual and quarterly work plans while maintaining alignment with LTIP governance and capital investment processes.
  • Communicates clear visibility into work pipelines, readiness, prioritization drivers, and schedule adherence while coordinating PREB reporting, LTIP inputs, and maintenance program performance reviews to support governance and strengthen execution outcomes.
  • Coordinates with Operations and Engineering to properly sequence and resource scheduled work, monitor permits, materials, and design‑package barriers, **escalate** issues as needed, and track execution performance to identify systemic obstacles.
  • Leads, models and ensures consistent application of policies and regulatory standards across teams to support ethical operations and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Leads and validates the planning and execution of restoration and emergency preparedness activities to strengthen operational resilience and response capacity.
  • Assumes and oversees expanded duties aligned with organizational priorities and professional scope to drive departmental effectiveness and strategic alignment.
Additional Job Description:
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Experience
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar functional role, with at least 3 years overseeing employees directly, leading teams, budgets and projects in a Supervisor role.
  • 5 years of experience in a Utility Environment.
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, teams, defining work plans and achieving departmental objectives.

Additional education may substitute for the required experience when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 3 years of experience performing related functions and at least 2 years in a Manager role.

  • Work Planning & Prioritization: Develops and refines risk‑based frameworks to translate asset strategy and mitigation needs into executable, well‑sequenced annual and quarterly work plans.
  • Asset Strategy Integration: Converts long‑term asset class strategies into actionable, validated, and prioritized work scopes that align with PM/CM program requirements and operational readiness.
  • Operational Coordination: Collaborates with Operations and Engineering to ensure proper sequencing, resource availability, and barrier resolution for scheduled work.
  • Pipeline Visibility & Reporting: Communicates clear insights into work pipelines, readiness, prioritization drivers, and schedule adherence while supporting PREB, LTIP, and program performance governance.
  • Field Readiness & Compliance: Controls corrective, preventive, and improvement task inventories and ensures field conditions, materials, and access are validated and compliant with Asset Strategy–defined standards.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer License (strongly preferred) or Associate Engineer License issued by the Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects of Puerto Rico
  • Membership of College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico.
