Job summary

The Carlyle Group is seeking an AML Manager to join its AML leadership team. This role drives execution, optimizes processes across a global organization, supervises external vendors, and oversees investor KYC/AML reviews throughout the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in investor AML/KYC at financial institutions, strong communication, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. In-office requirement: 4 days/week.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with solid academic performance.
  • CAMS certification desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer global AML/KYC processes and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
  • Review investor KYC documents throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Conduct database screening and escalate high-risk results.
  • Lead testing with third-party delegates, nominees, and intermediaries.
  • Provide AML/KYC training and respond to third-party questionnaires.
  • Support regulatory filings and audits for AML/KYC programs.
  • Maintain policy documentation under Compliance leadership.
  • Assist with AML-related IT projects and firm-wide initiatives.

Job description

Position Summary

The AML Manager is part of Carlyle's AML leadership team. This is a role for a self-starter who is eager to take on a supervisory role, drive execution, and optimize processes for a complex, global organization. Key responsibilities include (i) supervising external vendors on all workstreams related to AML/KYC; (ii) reviewing documents required for investor identity validation; (iii) identifying higher-risk results from screening (iv) maintaining AML related books and records in accordance with Carlyle's policies and procedures, (v) assisting with testing and the periodic refresh of investor files, (vi) conducting training regarding AML/KYC matters, and (vii) responding to third-party AML/KYC questionnaires or inquiries and assisting with AML/KYC regulatory filings required by local regulators. Additionally, the AML Manager will also play a critical role in any new firm-wide initiatives relating to investor lifecycle or update to the firm's AML/KYC program. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, work with a team and operate in a deadline-oriented environment.

In-Office Requirements

4 days per week in-office

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer Carlyle's global AML/KYC processes, including by coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders (across Legal, Fund Management, Client Solutions Group etc.) and overseeing service providers supporting such processes.
  • Review and analyze investor KYC documents during the investment lifecycle (including at onboarding and on an ongoing basis) and maintain relevant books and records.
  • Conduct database screening searches and review and elevate any search results generated from such screening.
  • Lead testing efforts with respect to third-party delegates, nominees, and intermediaries.
  • Conduct training regarding AML/KYC matters.
  • Respond to third-party questionnaires related to Carlyle's AML/KYC program, including sanctions program.
  • Assist other Carlyle U.S. and non-U.S. AML officers with various tasks, such as due diligence questionnaires, KPIs, regulatory reporting, responding to audit and regulator inquiries, etc.
  • Maintain applicable policy documentation under the supervision of senior members of Compliance
  • Assist with compliance-related IT projects and firm-wide initiatives, primarily related to enhancing anti-money laundering processes.
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to AML/KYC and other regulations.
  • Develop and implement knowledge management best practices.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by senior members of Legal & Compliance.
Requirements
Education & Certificates
  • BA/BS degree with solid academic performance
  • CAMS certification desired but not required
Professional Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in performing investor AML/KYC at financial institutions, ideally private equity firms.
  • Knowledge of corporate and fund structures is required.
  • Experience with investor onboarding platforms and AML screening tools desired.

Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York, NY and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
