Manager & Actuary, Individual Life Pricing

This Manager & Actuary plays a significant role in evaluating and pricing Individual Life (IL) reinsurance opportunities. Specifically, this position assists the lead pricing actuaries by setting and peer reviewing assumptions used to price various opportunities. This role requires substantial technical expertise and developing knowledge of individual life insurance.

Your Job
  1. New Business Modeling & Assumption Setting – Support the evaluation of IL reinsurance opportunities, including new business and improvements to existing business. Responsibilities include:
  • Review information provided by clients
  • Build pricing models based on assumptions from lead pricing actuaries or by setting assumptions
  • Run projections, analyze, and summarize results
  • Document and organize pricing models and files
  • Modeling Process Improvements & Cross-Training
    • Refine workbooks and templates for modeling support
    • Support analyst training by leading Best Practice meetings
  • Special Projects
    • Lead modeling and analysis for technical projects like Principal Based Reserves and Large Claims Analysis
    • Handle other ad hoc requests
    Your Profile
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Mathematics, or Accounting
    • 5+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance industry
    • Pricing and product development experience required
    • Experience with modeling software and interpreting results
    • Moody’s Axis experience preferred

    Compensation

    For New York City-based employees, the anticipated salary range is $178,945 - $197,782, plus potential annual bonuses. Actual salaries depend on skills, experience, and internal comparisons.
