Job summary

Pentegra Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Manager, Actuarial & Technical Services to lead actuarial analyses for Defined Benefit and retiree medical plans. This is a fully remote role reporting to the VP – Chief Actuary.

Qualifications

• College degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics.
• Enrolled Actuary designation required; FSA or ASA designation a plus.
• Ten or more years of actuarial and pension experience.
• Proficient in Proval valuation software.
• Knowledge of post-retirement medical plans.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel with Visual Basic/macros a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; mentoring and leadership.
• Strong time management; adaptable to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Funding and FASB valuations – code valuation software, reconcile assets and life insurance, prepare valuation reports and filings including Form 5500 & PBGC submissions.
• Benefit calculations for qualified and non-qualified plans, including RMDs and QDROs.
• Non-Discrimination Testing – analyze data and perform 410(b) minimum coverage and other tests.
• Special Projects – prepare plan amendments, cost/funding projections, and assist with PBGC-related terminations.

Job Summary: Support the annual administration of Defined Benefit and Retiree Medical plans. This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities:

• Funding and FASB Valuations – Code valuation software (including new plans, plan amendments, life insurance and assumption changes). Reconcile assets and life insurance, calculate contribution requirements, prepare valuation reports and government filings including Form 5500 & PBGC submissions.
• Benefit Calculations – Prepare/review benefit calculations for qualified and non-qualified plans and including RMDs and QDROs based on the plan provisions, IRS Rules, and actuarial factors.
• Non-Discrimination Testing – Analyze data and perform 410(b) minimum coverage tests, 401(a)(26) participation tests and 401(a)(4) general tests.
• Special Projects– Prepare plan amendments, cost/funding projections, and assist with plan terminations in coordination with PBGC.

Requirements:

• College degree required. Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics preferred.
• Enrolled Actuary designation required; FSA or ASA designation a plus.
• Ten or more years of practical actuarial and pension experience.
• Proficient in Proval valuation software.
• Knowledge of post-retirement medical plans.
• Prior supervisory or management experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially a working knowledge of Excel (Visual Basic and Macros a plus).
• Solid communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills for training, mentoring, delegating, providing feedback.
• Superior time management skills; adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
