Job summary

McLaren Health Care seeks a dedicated activities professional to design, implement, and evaluate resident activity programs aimed at socialization, entertainment, relaxation, and daily living skills. The role includes managing volunteer efforts and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards as directed by the administrator.

The incumbent provides leadership to set goals, develop and coordinate activities, and train staff to deliver quality programs within a health care setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional licensed by the state
  • Two years of college in a related area
  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program, one of which was full-time in resident activities in a health care setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the activity programs.
  • Plans, develops, directs, evaluates, and coordinates activities programs.
  • Plans activities for socialization, entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment for residents.
  • Oversees the facility's volunteer program when applicable.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintains staff competency through training and evaluation.
  • Directs departmental activities to meet cost and quality objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Keeps professional knowledge current through workshops and publications.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional licensed by the state
Two years of college in a related area

Position Summary

Plans, implements, and evaluates activities for facility residents. Designs programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment, and improve daily living skills. May also manage the facility's volunteer program. Ensures activities comply with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator.

  • Provides leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the activity’s programs of the facility. Plans, develops, directs, evaluates, and coordinates activities programs supportive of these goals.

  • Develops and trains personnel within the department and reviews and appraises their performance. Responsible for assuring competency of all staff.
  • Directs and coordinates assigned department activities to insure they are efficient, timely, and meet cost and quality objectives; and that all activities and services comply with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations, and laws.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.
