Job summary

Invesco is seeking a Manager, Accounting Policy to provide authoritative technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, with collaboration across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and other business teams. The role involves reviewing financial statements and 10-Q/10-K filings and identifying disclosure risks.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA and 6+ years in public accounting or related US GAAP/SEC experience, and possess strong communication

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • 6+ years public accounting, US GAAP accounting policy and/or SEC reporting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide authoritative technical accounting guidance on complex and strategic transactions.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, Fund Accounting and business teams.
  • Review quarterly financial statements and public filings for quality assurance.
  • Assess disclosure risks and respond appropriately.

The role will collaborate with colleagues and senior leadership across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, Fund Accounting and business teams.Responsibilities of the Role:Perform periodic reviews over technical accounting areas including consolidation and VIE assessments, segment reporting, loss contingencies, revenue recognition and management fee arrangements, restructuring and impairment matters.Perform ad hoc accounting analysis/research projects as they arise which may include new standard implementations, business combinations, or other complex transactions.Review quarterly financial statements and other publicly reported financial information (including 10-Qs and 10-Ks) and provide quality assurance.Assess emerging disclosure risks and identify/implement the appropriate response.Provide Finance leadership with peer analysis of current industry trends and topics.Provide support for the corporate audit, stepping in to assist accounting team members when requiredThe ideal candidate will be able to implement industry best practices to Invesco’s financial reporting processes.Requirements of the Role:Undergraduate or graduate degree in accountingCPA6+ years public accounting, US GAAP accounting policy and/or SEC reporting work experience required.Experience drafting technical accounting memoranda and policy documentation.Knowledge of Financial Services Industry is preferred.Ability to simplify complex issues for a non-technical audienceA growth mindset and a strong appetite to learn and developAbility to deal with and manage change in a fluid environment and prioritize multiple competing projects and initiatives and focus resources in line with such prioritiesSolid understanding of technical accounting conceptsExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to empathize with a wide range of stakeholder perspectivesStrong grasp of technology and systems.
