Job summary

Invesco Ltd. is seeking a Manager of Accounting Policy to provide authoritative guidance on complex transactions and reporting implications.

You will work with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR and business teams to drive policy development and ensure accurate financial disclosures. The ideal candidate has CPA credentials, extensive US GAAP policy experience, and strong communication skills to explain complex issues to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
• CPA is required or certified.
• 6+ years in public accounting, US GAAP accounting policy and/or SEC reporting experience.
• Experience drafting technical accounting memoranda and policy documentation.
• Knowledge of Financial Services industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative technical accounting guidance on complex and strategic transactions.
• Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, Fund Accounting and business teams.
• Review financial statements and ensure quality assurance on disclosures.
• Assess disclosure risks and implement appropriate responses.

Job Description

The Manager, Accounting Policy provides authoritative technical accounting guidance on complex and strategic transactions, mergers and acquisitions, evaluating financial reporting implications, and developing formal accounting positions. The role will collaborate with colleagues and senior leadership across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, Fund Accounting and business teams.

Responsibilities of the Role:

• Perform periodic reviews over technical accounting areas including consolidation and VIE assessments, segment reporting, loss contingencies, revenue recognition and management fee arrangements, restructuring and impairment matters.

• Perform ad hoc accounting analysis/research projects as they arise which may include new standard implementations, business combinations, or other complex transactions.

• Review quarterly financial statements and other publicly reported financial information (including 10-Qs and 10-Ks) and provide quality assurance.

• Assess emerging disclosure risks and identify/implement the appropriate response.

• Provide Finance leadership with peer analysis of current industry trends and topics.

• Provide support for the corporate audit, stepping in to assist accounting team members when required

• The ideal candidate will be able to implement industry best practices to Invesco’s financial reporting processes.

Requirements of the Role:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting

• CPA

• 6+ years public accounting, US GAAP accounting policy and/or SEC reporting work experience required.

• Experience drafting technical accounting memoranda and policy documentation.

• Knowledge of Financial Services Industry is preferred.

• Ability to simplify complex issues for a non-technical audience

• A growth mindset and a strong appetite to learn and develop

• Ability to deal with and manage change in a fluid environment and prioritize multiple competing projects and initiatives and focus resources in line with such priorities

• Solid understanding of technical accounting concepts

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to empathize with a wide range of stakeholder perspectives

• Strong grasp of technology and systems. Ability to lead organization in adopting new technology and ensure it is properly utilized
