Job Title: Manager - Accounting/Payroll

Job Description:

Atlantic Health System, Inc. ("AHS")/ AHS Investment Corp is seeking a proactive and motivated Manager of Accounting to join our dedicated Finance Team at the Morris Plains Corporate location. The Manager will report directly to the Director - AHS Investment Corp and collaborate with the Director - Ambulatory Ventures. This role requires an action-oriented, results-driven individual with proven ability to manage financial and operational responsibilities. The person will work with the accounting team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting.

Accounting Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation, review, balancing, and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial statements, reports, and all supporting documentation for multiple entities, including journal entries.
  • Distribution of financial report packages, including commentary on budget vs. actual variances and cash management schedules.
  • Oversee all aspects of payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments while adhering to legal and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure intercompany transactions are recorded correctly and balanced promptly.
  • Oversee and prepare financial information related to the year-end audit, including footnote support schedules.
  • Assist external accounting firms in preparing annual audit reports.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants for yearly tax filings.
  • Assist in the budget process and related analytical projects.
  • Serve as the point of contact with physician care centers, demonstrating clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly care center banking/reporting submissions (EOM, TOS reports).
  • Partner with the Executive Director and care center liaisons on onboarding/disaffiliation processes, ensuring all financial/reporting requirements are met.
  • Provide management and direction to the accounting staff.
  • Oversee cash management processes, ensuring accuracy of receipts, transfers, disbursements, and compliance with fraud protections like positive pay.
  • Supervise bank reconciliations for all related accounts.
  • Present financial data to upper management and physicians.
  • Create and update policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assist the Director as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounting within large, complex organizations, preferably in healthcare or not-for-profit sectors, with at least 5 years of progressive experience.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and effective team player.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, and Axiom budgeting software.
  • Working knowledge of G/L systems (e.g., NetSuite/Oracle).
  • Ability to work under stress, multitask, prioritize, and act appropriately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to large audiences and communicate with leadership clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and timely reporting skills.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
