QUALIFICATIONS JOB DESCRIPTION
General Function:

Provides administrative leadership for front office and assistivetechnology lab operations in Access and Disability Services. Hires,trains, supervises, and evaluates front office, assistivetechnology lab staff, and student employees. Manages and directsthe daily work and future directions of the operational andaccommodation components. Responsible for the operation ofdisability management software. Assists in developing, revising andimplementing procedures and standards; monitors and recommendsbudget proposals and staffing patterns needed to meetdepartment/College objectives; and provides consultation related tothe academic and physical accommodation needs for students. Staysabreast of current state and federal legislation related todisability access, assistive technology, and trends in the field ofpostsecondary disability services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides administrative leadership to the front office andassistive technology lab in Access and Disability Services.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates front office and assistivetechnology lab staff, interpreters, speech-to-text transcribers,and student employees to provide excellent, student centeredcustomer service. Develops and coordinates staff schedules toensure appropriate coverage of the office.
  • Responsible for the operation of disability management software(AIM) and ensures that the student data and documentation is storedproperly.
  • Consults with faculty and other campus administrative areas tofacilitate students’ disability related services and academicadjustments.
  • Troubleshoots common departmental problems that arise, andcoordinates problem solving and resolution related to reasonableaccommodations.
  • Assists with dissemination of staff and faculty developmentprograms related to accommodations, campus access, and UniversalDesign.
  • In collaboration with the Director, manages institutional, grant,and donated fiscal resources to maximize services in ADS.Collaborates with the Director to complete and validate financialand operational reports to meet the requirements of grant-fundedprograms and the internal budget.
  • Assists with the evaluation of effective services/programs inalignment with the College’s Strategic Plan by coordinating thecollection of data and outcomes related to accommodations.
  • Assists with conducting an annual analysis (End of Year report),data reporting to the ICCB/IBHE, and periodic Program Reviews(every five years).
  • Assists in developing standards, procedures, budget and staffingrecommendations for ADS in conjunction with the Director.
  • Participates in college and divisional committees asappropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Director, Disability Services.Supervises staff in the ADS front office and assistive technologylab

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature.

Equipment/Tools Used:

Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in orderto perform the duties of the job.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • Education: Masters’ Degree in Higher Education, DisabilityServices, Counseling, Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: Previous managerial experience in Disability Services,with a preference for postsecondary experience. Working experiencein providing direct services or accommodations. Knowledge ofdisability laws and regulations (Rehab Act, ADA, ADAAA, and stateregulations). Excellent communication, interpersonal, andorganizational skills is required. Conversational American SignLanguage fluency is desired.
