Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers.
  • Coordinate work assignments and monitor performances.
  • Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary recommendations as needed.
  • Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules.
  • Plan, supervise, and control available resources for safe loading/unloading of freight.
  • Maintain appropriate load plan and ensure proper load balance.

Job description

Management Training Program, Operations Supervisor

Join our 20‑week Management Training Program where you will be trained as an Operations Supervisor across one of our 240 nationwide Service Centers. The program covers all aspects of our service center operations, including safety, maintenance, transportation procedures and a glimpse into sales through time with ArcBest Account Managers. Willingness to relocate is key. Upon completion, you will be placed as an Operations Supervisor at a facility across the continental United States.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers.
  • Coordinate work assignments and monitor performances.
  • Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary recommendations, as needed.
  • Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules.
  • Plan, supervise, and control available resources associated with the timely, damage‑free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts.
  • Maintain appropriate load plan and ensure proper load balance for safe vehicle operation.
  • Support our values‑driven culture focused on creativity, integrity, collaboration, growth, excellence, and wellness.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred)
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
Additional Requirements
  • General knowledge of freight, imports, exports, and proper freight handling techniques (preferred)

Compensation
  • This is a salary position paid biweekly.
