We are excited to announce that the Management Liability team within IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Management Liability Underwriter with experience working with wholesalers to grow a profitable private, not-for-profit management liability book.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of private, not-for-profit management liability underwriting experience. We will consider candidates with less or significantly more experience. The job title awarded will depend on the knowledge and ability demonstrated during the selection process.

This position can be based in IAT’s Norristown, PA; Newark, NJ; Alpharetta, GA; Plano, TX; or Raleigh, NC. For the right candidate, other locations, including remote work, can be considered. The hybrid schedule involves working from the office with colleagues Monday through Wednesday, with remote work options on Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel is required.

The internal titles for this role are Underwriting Specialist or Underwriting Director, based on experience and demonstrated ability.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze underwriting files to accept new business or renewals within authority, using judgment and experience.
  • Review associated documents to ensure accuracy and minimize risk, utilizing change requests, claim info, loss control, and external databases.
  • Read, evaluate, and interpret contracts and policies to determine exposures, providing guidance and clarification.
  • Clarify and verify coverage details to team members.
  • Build relationships and collaborate to achieve organizational goals, fostering engagement and motivation among staff.
  • Work effectively with diverse backgrounds, promoting inclusion and a respectful workplace environment.
  • Market to assigned distributors to generate new business flow.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or similar, with at least eight years of insurance experience, or twelve years in P&C Insurance, preferably Management Liability.
  • Advanced underwriting experience and knowledge of the Management Liability industry.
  • Ability to apply loss development and analysis concepts for optimal risk pricing.
  • Creative use of coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance to meet company objectives.
  • Strong math skills, excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, internet tools, and spreadsheets.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without future VISA sponsorship.
Preferred:
  • Industry designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are preferred.
