Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is offering an Underwriting Internship in the Management Liability Business Unit, based in Raleigh, NC or Newark, NJ for Summer 2027. The program runs May 24, 2027 to July 30, 2027, with a hybrid schedule—office Mon-Wed and remote Thu-Fri.

You will learn underwriting basics, participate in educational sessions with experts, set goals, develop a capstone project, and gain exposure to a high-performing underwriting team.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work out of Raleigh, NC or Newark, NJ offices for the 10-week program.
• Must complete the full internship May 24–July 30, 2027.
• Rising undergraduate junior or senior.
• Ability and willingness to travel to other IAT offices.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and above-average computer skills.
• Preferred majors: Risk Management & Insurance, Business, Finance, or related.

Job description

IAT Insurance Group has an opening for an Underwriting Internship within our Management Liability Business Unit that can be in our Raleigh, North Carolina or Newark, New Jersey office locations for the summer of 2027. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a long-term career within the insurance industry. This internship will provide you the ability to learn the basics of underwriting while helping to facilitate and improve existing work. This role will not only provide you with exposure to subject matter experts, but also provide you with in-depth knowledge of how a high functioning Underwriting department works. The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
